Been seeing Scates for years! I would recommend Dr Scates to any of my lady family/friends. He has previously helped me with a Leep procedure. He's very personable and knowledgeable.

Dr Scates is a great doctor, who makes you feel comfortable in a usually uncomfortable position.

Best OB ever! Takes the time to talk to you during your appointments about what to expect throughout pregnancy and L&D. Soft spoken & intelligent.

Dr. Scates is a wonderful doctor. I actually switched doctors when I was 30 weeks pregnant because I didn't feel like my previous doctor was a good fit. He was always available to answer my questions and when I went past my due date he gave me many options. He didn't push going for the c-section like many doctors do. I plan on having him deliver all my babies!

This doctor discharged me without warning at 7+ months of pregnancy. I was told it was due to a missed appt and failure to complete my labs, which he told me that I still had time to do. That is all the staff would tell me and they would not allow me to talk to his MA who I left many messages for so that I could get a better understanding of what was happening and I left messages for him to call me back and his staff warned me each time that it was highly unlikely that he would return my call or reverse his decision.

Dr. Scates was great. He came highly recommended and as his patient I got to understand why. I had my first and only son with him and I new nothing then about babies or labor and delivery. Now that I am nursing school and learning about the specialty I can say he was definitely knowledgeable and had great bedside manner with me and my husband. If I decided to be an RN in L&D I would love to work as part of his team. He also had great raport with the other RNs on the floor. He is not just a good looking guy. He is well rounded and sensitive to women's needs. He was better than the female NP who did one of my exams. He has outdone all the female doctors that I have had since then. When I had my son he educated me through the entire process and he was able to go to a KINGS basketball game with enough time to come back and help deliver my baby. The only thing was the epidural although it was administered well. I wasn't told I wouldn't be able to squat and push. Not his fault

Wait times long, but takes time when he finally gets in the room. Not too supportive if you want to avoid routine interventions. Used lots of scary "what if" stories. If you want freedom to have a natural birth, find a midwife.
