I was this doctor late one night in the ER. I have chronic migraines and I had the stomach flu which was causing extreme pains in my belly. He refused to give me any meds because I am seen in the ER often because my regular doctor sends me there. I don't doctor shop, I see the same doctor all the time and this doctor basically said I was a drug addict and I need to be put in a psychiatric institute. He likened me to "the little boy who cried wolf." Sorry, but I am a cancer survior with two kids. Going to the ER is not fun for me so I'd rather not be treated like crap when I am forced to go there. I hope he gets fired for lack of compassion.

Went in for severe migraines that have lasted for two straight months. Have been to many doctors, neurologists, etc. Went on a Saturday night because it was the worst it had been and had passed out. Dr. Parrish says "we only treat the acute, we don't treat the chronic". Asked for suggestions of what to do the next day when headaches came back he said "I don't know. If I had migraines for two months, I would be with a neurologist, not in the emergency room." Really? What neurologist does he know with office hours at 8:00pm on a Saturday evening? Does he think we haven't attempted seeing other specialists and doctors over the past two months? As far as not being "acute"...would he think it was acute if he was the one with migraines, could not work for two straight months, and missed two months of paychecks? Or does he have that kind of luxury that most of us don't? This pompous jerk has no business practicing medicine with the public.
