My daughter stayed at mhni for 11 days and the only thing we learned was that her pressure with a lumbar puncture was elevated and draining the fluid was the only thing that had relieves her pain at all. However in the report Dr Saper stated there was no change in her pain. He also stated “opinions” in his report due to no relief in her symptoms because, you know, if he couldn’t find a way to provide relief for her pain then she was obviously exaggerating her pain. His “opinion” likely hindered her getting the help she needed from other medical professionals for years as that report followed her. My “opinion” is that he is very egotistical and lacks the compassion one would expect from a doctor o interested in actually helping his patients. After years of searching and her suffering and her symptoms progressing, and finally finding good doctors that are knowledgeable and actually care about finding the cause of a patients constant and debilitating pain, she now has several diagnoses that are proven with accurate medical tests and procedures. I would not recommend Dr Saper or the head pain institute if you actually need to find the root cause of your pain. If you want to try every drug they can think of that might possibly help and then get criticized if you ask to stop any of them due to burning veins or having to have so many IVs replaced and because they’re not helping; if you want to be written off as a lunatic for trying to research and advocate for yourself or your loved one; if you want to be treated like you’re not really sick and are just choosing to subject yourself to all the pain and tests and drugs just to avoid school or work or whatever… just go see Dr Saper and participate in his program. I regret ever taking my daughter to see him. I would like to speak to Dr Saper to inform him of what has actually been causing her constant pain for over 10 years now. Because maybe it would help him to think about other patients and what might be causing their pain if they have similar symptoms to my daughter. I would like to think maybe he’s changed since we were there and would care to know what we’ve found out.
