I have had a horrible experience with Dr Armstrong. I had a GI disease that required further investigation, including a colonoscopy and bloodwork. After our first phone consultation, he told me he would send me a requisition for bloodwork immediately after - this was never sent to me. I called his office numerous times requesting the bloodwork requisition, but they said Dr Armstrong hadn't left anything for me, and simply said that they were not able to help me, nor did they put me in touch with Dr Armstrong to provide this. They told me I would have to wait for our 6 month follow up to ask again... After months of struggling to get in touch and figure this out with them, I had to ask another doctor from another office to request the bloodwork. In addition, Dr Armstrong said he would arrange a colonoscopy within a few weeks. This was not arranged by the time of our follow up 6 months later. At the follow up, he apologized for the delay and stated that things were "crazy" in his office, and that he'd arrange the scope over the next few weeks. Another 6 months passed and nothing was booked. At our next FU again, he apologized and said he'd arrange one semi-urgently within the next few weeks. It has been 2.5 years since our initial consultation, and 1.5 years since that last phone appointment, we have met 3 times, and Dr Armstrong has never provided me with any of the bloodwork requisitions or appointments for colonoscopies that he promised at each visit... nor any further follow up for that matter.
I ended up asking for a referral from my GP to another GI doctor in Hamilton, who amazingly arranged the scope within 2 weeks after the initial consultation.
I would best describe my experience with Dr Armstrong as one of gross negligence from a physician and their office. I would consider this level of patient care as reaching criteria to be reported to the college, with an obvious need for intervention and significant improvement, except for the fact that I understand how unpleasant that experience is for a physician. That said, this is unacceptable and negligent practice from a physician. I hope that Dr Armstrong reads this and re-evaluates the way in which he manages patients, as this is certainly the worst experience I've ever had with a physician.
