If you press this man on his assumptions or in any way question what he says, he becomes enraged and violent. His staff gets three stars only because the one nurse tried to stop him from physically assaulting me -- she failed, but she tried.

Dr Pugmire is the best doctor ever! I had my surgery with him in 2008 in Lansing. I am a health professional myself and cannot say enough good about this man and his staff. He did an excellent job with my surgery. He always explained things well. And he was always there. All during my treatment and even now 10 years later his staff or himself will respond immediately when I contact them. Several times during my treatment, I had emergencies that needed quick attention. Within a very short time of calling, I would get a response. And now that he is with Women's Excellence and has an online car e system, it is even better. I recently came in contact with someone with Influenza A. I tried contacting my primary doctor on Christmas eve to find out if I should go on Antivirals.... no response at all. But I contact Dr. Pugmire and within a short period of time had an Antiviral ordered to prevent getting this. I now travel 1 and 1/2 hours to his office. But would not go anywhere else. Excellent Doctor and Excellent staff!

Dr. Pugmire performed my surgery in December 2013. I am a health care professional so I know the difficulties of the profession. It is difficult to not become emotionally involved when treating patients and sometimes it may seem as if health care professionals, especially physicians do not care. Let me assure you that every time a health care professional loses a patient it takes an emotional toll. I find Dr. Pugmire to be a perfectionist and I would rather have him do my surgery and follow-up care than have someone who is considered to have a good bedside manner, but not as competent do my surgery. I followed Dr. Pugmire to Beaumont from Crittenton and there were some issues. However, now that Dr. Pugmire is back at Crittenton, he office is running as smoothly and as efficiently as ever. I know we all have high expectations of our health care professionals, but in the end they are only human. Dr. Pugmire had to have worked long and hard to get to the top of his profession. I would not hesitate to place my trust in him again.

I'm not going to go into specific detail about our entire experience, but I will let know of the emotional damage this man has caused because he did something he shouldn't have, KNEW HE DID IT, and let it go for someone else to deal with. I can't help but be extremely bitter about the fact that due to one mans absolute carelessness, I will now, for the rest of my life, associate every aspect of the holiday season with the worst memories my brain possesses. Thanksgiving as the last time I saw my Nana happy and healthy, the last conversation we had that I would now do anything to extend for just a few moments longer. Christmas Eve as the very last time she smiled at me. Christmas Day as wishing she was at home instead of suffering through her final days with doctors that just also wanted to be home with their families, and did not hide that fact in the way that they treated her. And New Years as when I said goodbye one of the most important people in my life. Thank you, Dr. Pugmire. I will never forget you and I can only hope, that every time Christmas rolls around you remember the look on my grandmothers face when you specifically asked her if she wanted to die.

My experience with Douglas Pugmire as my oncologist was horrible. The only thing worse than his rude, uncaring, arrogant attitude, was the incompetence of his staff. I constantly got the run around on the phone, they were unable to access my records for nearly a month (he changed hospitals, I signed and they lost my consent form) and no one in his office ever took accountability for errors made in scheduling appointments, calling in prescriptions or ordering test. Rather than focusing on taking care of myself, I spent all my time fixing their mistakes. My new oncologist also told me many of the test he told me were needed and the last three months of chemo he put me through were unnecessary. Having cancer is awful, Douglas Pugmire, and his office made it worse.

Dr. Pugmire gave me hope and made me feel that it was going to be fine, and it was. I found out I had cervical cancer on May 12,2008, and on May 22, Dr. was doing robotic surgery, I went home the next day and felt amazing. I still see him for check ups. Very helpful staff.

Dr. Pugmire treated my wife, Lee Ranieri, for ovarian cancer in 1997. He also performed a very difficult debulking surgery on her that offered her relief from her cancer. Although her cancer was quite far along and her chances of survivial were slim, Dr. Pugmire did his very best to help save her. Unfortunately, my wife succumbed to the disease in July 1997. But Dr. Pugmire's compassion, ability and professionalism helped ease some of the sting of the entire situation and helped give my wife hope during a very trying time. A first-rate doctor -- and person.

Dr. Pugmire performed surgery on me for endometrial adenocarcinoma. He provided no follow-up care after surgery. When I arrived at his office for a post-op check, his staff informed me that he had been called out on an emergency. He was standing behind the reception area. I left and never heard from his office again. I receive follow-up care in Grand Rapids.
