I totally agree with the previous post--couldn't have said it better myself. I would definitely recommend him to my friends--in fact, I do it all the time.

Dr. Barker takes time to listen to his patients and is concerned about their health and well being. He is great.

I previously was a patient of Dr. Barker's at University Physicians Clinic (Sioux Falls). When he left there, I changed my primary care (PC) clinic location to his new clinic (Avera Downtown Clinic) because I liked him quite a lot as my PC physician. I have found him to be very thorough and knowledgeable in diagnosis - he always is deliberate and detailed in asking good questions to locate the cause of a problem and to rule out certain causes or conditions - often things that I didn't think about. He has a good balance of ordering additional tests at my request, while still being honest with me that some other tests probably won't yield more information. He provides excellent treatment options and is flexible when I have preferences about a particular medicine to use/not use. His bedside manner is particularly impressive - he is not at all arrogant, but is rather very pleasant, friendly and very easy to relate and converse with. I do not plan to change doctors in the future.
