I totally agree with comment from 8-1-11. Worst doctor ever...NO compassion, NO Empathy, NO interest, NO knowledge...please people i know a lot of Insurance companies use him, but GET SOMEONE ELSE...almost anyone would be better...and RUDE with it too, treats clients like imbeciles. I write this now as I am hearing it from friends too who have seen him, so it is not just me......

Dr. Li is the WORST Doctor. Rude, Condescending,NO Empathy-What Happened to the Hippocratic Oath? This is the 1st 'COMPLAINT' I have ever made. 1.)Extremely LATE for Appt.(Okay, I could give him that the waiting room was full)2.)He didn't apologize(Agree w/ another review-limp,limp handshake w/ NO eye contact-instantly he was pulled away.3.)I tried to hand him an article(1 pg.)put out by Dominican Hospital(re:My Back Care)He didn't look at it-just tossed on desk. 4.)He handed Me a Sheet for'Lumbar Facet Injection' & walked Out(NOT EVEN a 2 min New Patient Appt. It lasted less than 3 min. & BILL was for $300)! 5.)He didn't EXPLAIN Anything/Didn't Ask about My Pain/Didn't touch/look at my back/or have me bend.GONE!I walked out STUNNED.A Nurse standing in 'Hallway' had a clipboard w/something for me to sign?-I didn't even *KNOW WHAT I SIGNED* I asked for a copy at front desk*WHAT I SIGNED*was an Informed Consent Form!WHAT?I wasn't INFORMED or Told of Procedure.TRUST YOUR GUT-BAD DR!

Dr. Li appeared to be knowledgeable but he seemed rushed. He asked questions but didn't appear interested in the responses. He was direct and to the point which is good but it made me wonder if he heard anything I was saying. The treatment he suggest has been helpful thus far (3 weeks later) as the pain has been significantly reduces with minor numbness remaining. We'll see how things progress. The office wait time has varied from right on schedule to 20-30 minutes late. Office staff was cordial but I wouldn't describe it as friendly. I saw the physicians assistant who was very helpful, answered questions and seemed genuinely concerned and interested in how the procedure went and how I was feeling at the initial meeting and the followup appointment.

Let me say that Dr. Li is not the most personable person in the world but he knows his stuff. But I have to say that a wonderful man named Daniel Johnson who works under Dr. Li took my case over and then I was starting to make some progress and my pain was finally pinpointed after a few procedures. Daniel took the time to LISTEN to me and now I am finally on the RIGHT track to a normal life again! If you go, know that Dr. Li performs the procedures, but ask to speak to Daniel Johnson! He is a miracle worker! Dr. Li's staff is truly AMAZING! The girls are friendly and attentive. I've never had to wait very long to be seen there, so they are very punctual as well. The office is clean & modern and I feel comfortable there. I also like the fact that they do NOT push pills at this clinic. They treat the pain issue rather than mask it. I am happy that I decided to go to this office and even happier that I met Daniel Johnson!

I had an epidural spinal injection - I had three previously from another doctor - which were painless. Dr. Li spent the minimal amount of time with me -- 15 minutes -- did not wait for the numbing medicine to take affect -- and injected into my spine with little or no pain relief. The pain was horrible and when I commented on it, he said, "okay, just a little more. This is normal. Keep breathing." I was so shaken afterwards and there he spent NO time with me, nor did any staff. It was the worst medical experience I have ever had.

Dr. Li did a spinal injection procedure on me and it was very painful. He gave me 5 shots around my tailbone and when I told him it was too painful, he just kept going. Then I was rushed out of his office and could barely walk to my car because of the pain. I almost fainted in front of his office, my friend said I was white as a sheet and I felt woozy. Once in the car, I thought i was going to throw up and my friend asked his front office people for a trash bag and explained what was going on and they didn't respond at all with any concern. Plus Dr. Li didn't explain anything to me about what was going on with my back or what he was doing. And he told me he doesn't do any medication for pain, so he's not really a pain doctor, is he? Just a shot doctor and not a very compassionate one at that.

Dr Li has zero personality. His greeting is not warm and his hand shake is grossly limp. He talks fast and when I made comments regarding my needs his response was cold and abrupt. Hes intimidating, zero compassion. The second visit was extremely rushed. Dr Li rushed through the visit so fast I did not get a chance to ask questions I had on a list. I will not see him again. I believe he is very knowledgeable and I am sure because he deals with addictive pain meds he see's all kinds. I need a Dr who takes the time to listen and answer patient questions and concerns in a respectful manner. Ii would encourage him if he is going to greet the patient with a hand shake, firm it up. Limp hand shakes are so creepy!

Wow, I don't know what's up with the other rating. I've been to Dr. Li twice, and there's no way he's a "fraud" - if he was he's be arrested! I was referred to him by my physical medicine doctor, who works with him all the time. They both seem to be known positively in the community. His office is close to Dominican hospital and looks like a regular Santa Cruz-style medical office to me (the review made it sound like he was running a practice out of his garage or something!) And the lobby is always full of pain patients - not any of the other disciplines the above review claims he's treating. Dr. Li seems knowledgeable, had all my records electronically, and does in fact communicate regularly with my other doctor.
