On May 26, 2020 my mother had a proceedure called ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography) to remove a stone in her bile duct. Few hours after the proceedure she went to Mackenzie Health hospital emergy room as she was unwell. My mother Gigi an otherwise healthy 79 year old was admitted and diagnosed with pancreatitis. It turned out to be so severe she had to be sent to St Michael hospital twice to remove dead tissue cause by the inflamation, Due to the pandemic i was not permitted to see her for the first seven weeks. My mother was only able to answer calls for about 8 days or so at the beginning. She became so ill and out of it. She was moved to ICU twice while at Mackenzie Health.
From the day of her proceedure she never ate or drink anything ever again. She had drain tubes, feeding tube, tube in her bladder. At one time she had 6 tubes in her body. It was the worst ever time in my life. It was so traumatic... to this day i cant stop thinking about what she went through. It was just horrible.
On September 18, 2020 15 weeks after the ERCP she died.
One thing that always bothered me is why Dr. Schep released her without seeing her first? She thought all had went well meanwhile the proceedure was not succesful as i found out later. A doctor at the hospital told me a ct scan revealed she still had the stone in her bile duct. Why am i writing this after so long you may wonder. I guess i cant stop rembering what happend to her and the lack of caring from this man. He couldn't even bother telling her he was not succesful. Furthermore he never made any attemps to contact me and maybe provide an explanation as to what happend during the proceedure . I did call him after she died and all he could say to me i understand you are upset. Wow ! Upset was an under statement. He was just a cold fish!

What a great bedside manner this doctor and his staff has. Caring, takes time to explain how the procedure will progress. You do not feel rushed at all. (good looking too)

I have had three procedures in the last few years for radiation burn. Doctor G Schep performed these with professional care , asking me if I was ok on a number of occasions. I can only say that at 79 years old and with many other health issues dealing with other doctors he is THE BEST, I have never written a review in my life before this and I think this could be helpful for someone considering a doctor in this field of medicine.

I have been a patient of Dr Schep's for over 20 years. I am lucky to have him as my specialist. Several procedures conducted by him, no issues. Great follow up by him. Very nice fellow who takes the time with patients to explain and discuss the subject matter and chat about non medical things. I always have pleasant follow ups with Dr. Schep. Like talking with a friend not a Doc.

If you can avoid this doctor, please do. First I pity his receptionist she is lovely, I could imagine working for this man. He won’t permit you to talk and was pushing me to have. Colonoscopy. Then said, I guess this is just for information, um, ya, it is. He talks all big and uses medical terms that I believe it or not, being a pottery teacher, I don’t understand. Yes, I know you are smarter than me. Most condescending creature on the planet. Upon relating ,y story to my fiend, she had a similar experience independent of my own, hhhhmmmm coincidence? Why do doctors need to act like god and treat others they are supposed to be helping like like you are dumb. I do not recommend this guy. Look elsewhere.
