Horrible experience. She made me so sick, I thought I was going to die. Guess I'm not alone since she was forced to retire early. Heard it was something to do with mistreatment of Lyme Disease patients. Didn't do thorough diagnostics. Did minimal tests. Jumped to conclusion of diagnosis. Didn't do any pre-testing to check my status before the treatment she said I needed. While in the treatment room, a lady was there getting same treatment. She said this was her last time because it was making her so sick, she couldn't take it anymore. I should have listened and ran! Dr and nurse assured me it was safe. It was not! I ended up so incredibly ill, I believe it was the start of a disease I ended up with. Later that day, her office charged my credit card extra money after I left and without my permission! When I called to reverse the charge, there was song and dance. I said I wasn't paying. Asked doctor to call me. Never heard from her. Then I got really sick. I searched the web on what she put it me. It was toxic chemicals. No wonder I got so sick! Then I called her office about all this. Asked for the doctor to call me back. Never heard from her about her making me sick, nor about the extra charge to my credit card behind my back. She obviously didn't care about my health and whatever damage she had caused by body. She just wanted to take my money and run. Glad she's out of business so she won't hurt any more people or take their money.

I was seen and treated by this provider several years ago. I hadon't a very positive experience. Yes her practice was busy so it could be challenging to get an appointment quickly, but I was was commuting 3-4 hrs to gets seen and felt it was still worth while.

I tried calling the office to get an appointment. Couldn't get in because the doctor is full. However, wanted to comment on the receptionist/secretary's rudeness. She was very short with me and when I asked for a referral to another doctor and asked for the spelling of the name she said it was correct and hung up. Guess she thought it was ok to be rude to people since they no longer are taking patients. Went to look up the referred doc only to find out the spelling was incorrect. Thanks for nothing.

The first time I went to see her, she recommended a very expensive test, took some intake, & that was it. $245, so took my 20% on the credit card. Later I found that the insurance had paid her a lower contracted amount & so for the extra $s of the 20% I paid, I'm awaiting a refund as per call with Stephanie, at the front desk several weeks ago. On the matter of the very expensive test, that they wanted me to pay upfront for - & then get reimbursed from my insurance if they cover it - the front person doesn't know anything she said; the person who knew was unavailable & did not call me back to resolve. As I work with the test manufacturer itself, I find discrepancies in what I was told & understood & what they are now claiming. Definitely very difficult to identify & get a hold of the person with whom a client need to discuss & resolve billing issues.

I came to Dr. Raffety as she is one of the few listed Doctors who treats for Lyme disease and other co-infections in the Portland area. She was extremely expensive and didn't take insurance. I was misquoted several times about testing costs and appointment pricing and in the end it all came out of my pocket. I felt as though Dr. Raffety was uninterested in my well being. She did not want to hear about new ideas an methods that I wanted try. She was not aggressive in treatment at all. Any treatments that I wanted to pursue was shooed away. I started doing more research and found that some of the herbs that she had me on were actually harmful for late stage lyme patients. Ultimately, I didn't feel comfortable with her as my dr. and I definitely feel as though I was used as a cash cow; which is so easily done to the people who need help the most with chronic illnesses. I would recommend searching for another ND who is interested helping and is willing to listen to your wants and needs.

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Rafferty, the only good thing that happened through her was that I met other doctors in her clinic who seemed to be more caring, and more interested in helping the patient rather than financial interest. Dr. Rafferty would only see me with expensive appointments, over 100 dollars each time, even for small things like refilling a medication. After years at her practice, lots of research and seeing other doctors, I felt quite sad that I had given her such a long opportunity, and in the end, I felt used. There are far better doctors out there who truly care about their patients, and not just their pocket books, and I hope that when searching for a doctor for lyme disease that people reading this might try to choose between several doctors, and not just go with Rafferty, who after years, and huge expenses, never helped me. She never even focused on my digestive tract, like other Lyme doctors, which is an extremely important step.

I found Dr Raffety to be very knowledgeable about Lyme disease and other tick borne illnesses, having seen doctors in NY and CA, but wanting treatment closer to home. She was very professional & on time. She took my opinions about treatment seriously and worked with me. I'm not sure I believed in all the "natural" approaches she used, but then, I wanted to avoid antibiotics. I did not like the frequency she wanted me to come back for a revisit, and the supplements got very expensive. I stopped seeing her because I was so upset about her office's billing practices. I paid for each visit, and they offered to bill my insurance. BUT they did not tell me the cost of that day's service would increase dramatically as a result. It was a terrible shock to get a billing notice saying I owed them hundreds of dollars when I was expecting money back from insurance! They may have clarified their policies since my experience, but keep your receipts and read all the fine print!

Although the doctor knows what she is doing medically. They have problems finding and keeping professional office staff. I dont know whether it is office politics, or that they are too cheap to hire good help. Whatever the reason, it was bad enough for me to stop going there. The billing I found completely screwy and unprofessional. I would highly recommend going somewhere else unless you can afford to pay everthing out of pocket at the time of service and keep ALL reciepts so you don't get rebilled for the same thing later. Front desk people were friendly and polite but billing...I continue to have very poor experience with lack of professionalism and especially credibility.

I highly recommend Dr Rafferty. She knows what she's doing and used to be an RN before going on to ND school. She does everything a good primary care doc is suppossed to do, like a physical exam, a good history of the patient, listens to their concerns and takes enough time to do the job properly. She is definitly lyme litterate. I have been seeing her on a regular basis for close to a year and I am seeing a big improvement in my health when other doctors wouldn't take more than 7 minutes to spend with you and maybe 2 of those to actually listen. I highly recommend her especially for those that have chronic illness and have not found suitable help elsewhere.
