About Naturopaths
Find a DoctorNaturopathy is a form of alternative medicine that includes specialties in nutritional and herbal medicine, homeopathy, and remedial massage. A naturopath provides treatment based on the principles of traditional healing methods and the idea that the body can restore its health naturally without the use of medication and through the adoption of forms of diet management, exercise, and massage therapy.
Naturopathic medicine concentrates on holistic, non-invasive methods of treatment and it the job of a Naturopath to identify what is the cause of disruption in the body as well as the mind and to remove any blockages to restore good health both internally and externally.
Naturopaths practice in private offices as well as in hospitals, clinics, and community health centers. Naturopaths are qualified medical practitioners.
Some of the more common conditions treated by a Naturopath include management of allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopaths can also perform minor surgeries, such as removing cysts or stitching up superficial wounds.
Much like general practitioners, Naturopaths will refer patients to necessary specialists for further treatment depending on the type of condition or illness they may have.
