I have always been apprehensive about dental work but Dr. Carrico and his staff made me feel very comfortable. He took the time to explain each procedure to me and also offered many alternatives. Dr. Carrico made sure I was comfortable throughout the appointments and that really showed me that he cared. He is by far the best dentist I have been too!!

Dr. Carrico is good for basic cleanings, however after he botched a job on my friend's front tooth I decided to switch dentists. I asked his office to mail my new dentist all my xrays and files. One year later and 3 follow-up phone calls, my new dentist still has not received anything. Dr. Carrico's office has been unhelpful, saying they did send the files and there's nothing more they can do. While the package could have been lost in the mail, it seems rather unlikely as it is was just mailed from Kailua to Honolulu-- a distance of about 11 miles.

Very nice and knows what he's doing, but his services run on the expensive side. He only uses white composite resin fillings and charges full price, which leaves a very expensive co-pay for the patient. Insurance only pays the amount it would have approved for amalgam, and since there is no negotiated insurance co. discount for resin the difference can really cost you if you need a few fillings. He'll also only refer to one certain endodontist, who doesn't accept most insurance (but will bill for the patient), and you either have to pay an exorbitant fee up front for a root canal if you need one, or you're on your own finding your own specialist. My last root canal/crown combo set me back $1700 out of pocket AFTER the insurance paid for both doctors. Should provide at least a couple of alternative referrals to accommodate patients with different insurance. That said, I've been a patient of Dr. Carrico's for a decade, and I keep going back because I like him and his helpful staff.
