I highly recommend Blossom Midwifery. Lori, Sarah and Esther were all super helpful during my pregnancy and delivery! I love how my visits with them are not rushed. All my questions are answered. During the first week when you're a new mom, learning and had a c-section. It can be quite overwhelming to get baby ready and leave the house for doctor appointments. I am so glad I went with a midwife and the perks of having home visits.

This was an awful experience. Both Lori and Sarah are scatterbrained and never remember what we talked about in prior appointments. They hardly even remembered my name.
I had no help when I went into labour and ended up suffering some physical issues after baby that could have been avoided if I was given better medical advice.
I would never use them again or recommend them.
Avoid at all cost.

I had an absolute horrible experience with both Lori and Sarah. They switched from having there own case loads to sharing and rotating. I would see a different person each visit and they didn’t seem to know or remember things we talked about...they also seemed sleep deprived and not on the ball. They missed pertinent information during my pregnancy and imcompenent.
Each blamed one another, total lack of accountability. Lori was a scatter brain during delivery.
This was not my first child...would not recommend them. Your better off with a doctor.

Lori practices mostly within the medical model with not enough attention to the midwifery model which includes respect for womens autonomy and informed consent. She is irritated when you question her preferences. I feel she was patronizing to me when I was experiencing normal anxiety in labour. From my friends experiences, I would say she is better than the average doctor in Richmond but if you want real midwifery care you should go to South Delta Midwives.

Lori and Sarah are both amazing midwives. Lori was on call for my delivery. I had 20 hours of labour with 10 at the hospital and Lori was with me at the hospital for almost all of it. She was strong and supportive and just the right motivation to keep me going. When my labour required an emergency c-section Lori was right there with me offering us comfort and support. She made extra trips to visit me in the hospital when I was struggling with recovery. Lori and Sarah were great at communicating and tag teaming how they could help me. I highly recommend her.

I found Lori to be absolutely amazing. She is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. For me, it was her god awful partner Sara Povey who was the problem. I found her to be patently wrong in some of her suggestions to me and uncommunicative and unprofessional at times. I, unfortunately, learned from other medical professionals who have worked with her, that my doubts about her knowledge and professionalism are justified. But Lori is great and she made dealing with the joke of a midwife Sara, worth it.

I had an amazing experience with both Lori and Sara Povey.

Lori is a very knowledgeable, professional and personable midwife. She was a great fit for our family and supported and cared for us for both our children. She was always available to answer our questions and concerns. She has a great medical background which was comforting for my husband as he was initially a bit reluctant to go the midwife route. But now he is so vocal about his support for midwives. She has so much knowledge and gave us great advice and suggestions. She took great care of all of us! I wish I could continue to see her and Sara for non-pregnancy and birth related matters. We are all so incredibly grateful and thankful to have gone through this with both Sara and Lori.

If you are looking for a midwife then that is not the right person. Lori likes to act as a doctor, she will show up in the last minute for your delivery, not spend much time in the room, she does not know or respect any alternative health products or means despite the amazing results they have and she will try to push drugs on you. She is extremely opinionated and she will make you feel uncomfortable if you have different opinion than her. You might as well got a doctor, you would have the same impersonal care and may be even better since not all doctors are like that; she did nothing really for me. I would never go back in that office. Love Anita, the receptionist, she is great. She tried her best to help us with referrals for a question we had two weeks after we were dismissed from the midwife care even though Lori said that they can't help us anymore since they are not responsible for us (it was just a breastfeeding question!). Overall not happy at all.
