Dr Smith-O was my OB for my 2nd son in 2003 at the recommendation of my mother who had him for her 5th pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage. She said he was excellent & even asked permission before doing a "rectal exam". I was 20yo at the time w/ little knowledge about women's healthcare. I had been to a different OB w/ my 1st son & didn't receive a "rectal exam". I wondered if maybe this was something done because of her age (39 at her last pregnancy). However, he asked permission to do one on me at my 1st visit. I asked what would happen if I said no. He said he wouldn't be able to gather all the important information he needed if I declined. So I said yes, reluctantly. When I saw him again for my annual, when I wasn't pregnant, he asked to do a rectal exam again. I am now 40 years old, I'm a nurse w/ my bachelor's degree & 10 years NICU experience. I work w/ over 100 women most of child bearing age & all who have seen an OB & every one that I've asked has said that they've never ever been given a rectal exam. When I asked my mother if any of her 4 previous pregnancies if she'd received a rectal exam, she said no. She just thought it was a new technique her previous OB hadn't heard about! This has bothered me for years & I wondered what others thoughts were on this.

If I ever have another child I'd use him and to this day he is my gyno. Amazing Doctor!!!

Absolutely wonderful Dr.; takes time to answer questions, has a good bedside manner and seems to genuinely care. Purpose of my visits have been to care for pelvic floor prolapse, of which he seems to be very knowledgeable. Appreciated him so much but unfortunately he has recently retired.

The staff was nice. The Dr. himself was a quack. He went on vacation the day before my scheduled induction and although I understand the need for vacations it seems like he would of mentioned it. The doctor that took over for him was rude, didn't listen to me when I tried to explain some past issues I had had. I honestly thought I was going to die. Horrible experience.

This doctor is the best. He delivered my 2 children who are now 15 yrs old and 13 yrs old. I was so young at the time and scared and he had the best best-side manner and the staff was amazing. it was many years ago so I can only imagine how great he is now.

I went to Dr. Smith O'Brien for my 3rd child (all c-section) almost 5 years ago. I've had an ablation also by him. I really love how he took the time to sit down and explain everything to me. I wouldn't go to any other Dr.

I have been with Dr. Smith-O'Brien for almost 2 years now and have suffered 2 miscarriages(not his fault) He checked on me every day while hospitalized and even stood with my family while my daughter was baptised before she passed (19.3 wk loss due to incompetent cervix) He has always been straight forward and too the point in a respectful manner. If you are looking for someone to sugar coat your female health look for another Dr! He is amazing and I do not plan on looking for another Dr until he retires!

Best doctor in town. Hilarious and kind. Came to check on me a lot in the hospital after delivery. If you ever wonder where your OB went- he's probably checking on patients at the hospital! Nurses are amazing here. Thorough and friendly. Bad reviews for this doctor seem ridiculous to me!

Dr. Smith-O'Brien is the best doctor I have ever had. He made me feel great and he really listened to me. I have recommended to him to all of my friends ever since. Even my husband raves about him!!

I really like Dr. smith obrien. the way he explains things to us. he is very intelligent with his work. we also like how calm he is about things hes not pushy with his recommendations. we just enjoy talking to him he knows what hes doing.. nathan and ashley
