I was raped on a date in college during early 2014 and went to this OB/GYN doctor for support and to check if I needed STD testing. I had PTSD already from a previous sexual abuse experience, and told her I was very scared and felt ashamed. She led me to an odd room - looked like a conference room, no exam table. She did not prescribe tests or treatment. She instead was very cold, and used victim blaming to accuse me of "not knowing what Real rape was". That experience has haunted me for years and made me afraid of trusting doctors. I later went to Planned Parenthood instead, where I was treated instead with humanity, empathy, given medical information and tests, and I turned out to be clean and safe. I really wish that this doctor had not treated me so maliciously, it added to my trauma - but it ended up helping me to find a much better PCP at planned Parenthood, and to find OB/GYN doctors who treated me with considerate care and were trauma aware.
