Facility is dirty and crowded. Staff are less than compassionate . Dr.s take little time with patient's and hard to know if they are really listening or distracted by time. The birthing center is far from that. Mothers in labor are often having to share a room and postpartum rooms are 2-beds, crowed and less than clean. Poor teaching for new mothers. Throughout the facility, staff in general are grumpy and seem bothered to have to stop and ansewr a question. I would not want my family treated there and could not recommend it. It advertises as a Dartmouth hospital but the quality of care is zero on a scale of one to ten compared to Lebanon which is a ten.

Cheshire Medical Center operates on the whole as a monopoly in the Monadnock region. It lost two doctors I saw, both of them top in their fields, because of its bureaucratic organization and profit-driven behavior. Instead of replacing them, the clinic handed over their patience to nurse practitioners, who work in a team so that you never know who you're going to see and you never see the doctor (who bills for his/her services anyway). Some of the nurse practitioners are terrific, others not so much, but there's no continuity in patient care. Cheshire Medical has a very good drop-in service for primary care. Because of its affiliation with Dartmouth-Hitchcock, it still attracts some top docs. Other services are abysmal. The office handling patient records requests has at least one staffer who's incredibly rude by phone and in person, and some requests never get done. The patient registration, required before every visit, can take as long as 20 minutes and cause a patient to miss an appointment. The registration staff is usually quite nice, stuck within a cumbersome system. The cafeteria is as far from being environmentally "green" as imaginable, generating masses of styrofoam and plastic waste and serving only so-so food (other hospitals do much better in both aspects). Cheshire Medical has a very good drop-in service for primary care. Because of its affiliation with Dartmouth-Hitchcock, it still attracts some top docs. But it's far from comprehensive and sends patients to the main location an hour's drive away for some specialties or procedures. To make more profit, it has closed or repurposed its central Keene office that once served patients without cars. It's unfortunate that this medical center focuses its energy more on making money than on its responsibility to the community.

This place is a joke. The doctors don't care enough to even find out what's really wrong. Lots of time wasted. Records are poorly kept. They don't communicate between departments so important things like allergies don't transfer over. Don't go to Cheshire!
