I've been seeing Dr. Tang for about two years because my previous rheumatologist retired. He is always on time, he's very knowledgeable, and listens to my preferences. The staff is very nice, too.

I found Dr. Tang to be friendly, thorough and well informed. The only problem I have had is when I attempted to get a steroid prescription for a severe gout attack the office failed to let me know that the prescription had been approved and filled . I had to call the pharmacy in order to find out that it had and because of that I wasn't able to start the dosage of the steroid until late in the day forcing me to take it almost all at one time rather than spaced out over a day . ( The instructions tells you to do so if you don't have a whole day to take them initially.)

Sorry to see the other patient had issues. I've moved a lot, & Tang is my 5th rheum-he seems fine. He orders all of the same xrays, labs, etc as every other rheum I've been to. I'm wondering if the first patient had ever been to a rheumatologist before or had the reasoning for different testing explained to them? He emails lab results back to you if they are normal, where some drs call no matter what but this doesn't bother me. You make an apt to review other things like xrays which seems to be pretty standard everywhere. I see another dr. in the same office frequently--surprised to hear the waiting room was empty. Its never packed, but never empty. When it comes to a specialist, I don't want a packed wt.room/over booked Dr! He needs to be able to spend a good amt of time w/the patient. That said, once in the exam room you have to wait longer than I would like to actually see the doc. I guess I don't expect much from the staff anywhere anymore so they don't bother me.

You do not have enough money to see this doctor. Honest. Also, his office gave me an application for a debit card from the drug company to pay my $3,000 copay which they approved, then Tang would not accept it. Weird. He order x-rays of every joint in my body--most were perfectly healthy--and never discussed any results with me. He order blood tests requiring five vials of blood and never discussed results. Office staff is a bunch of school girls that know nothing. Only good thing: zero wait time. The waiting room is empty. No patients. Very telling. I rated his knowledge at 2 because you have to put something. I have no idea about his knowledge.
