I suffered with Atrial Fibrillation for decades and was unable to address solutions beyond medications because my health insurance with BCBSNC refused any treatments due to its designation as a pre existing condition. I was referred to Dr. Dusa by my cardiologist, Dr. Bernard Reen. Dr. Reen, an excellent physician who has treated me for years, offered what proved to be sound advice to await new and emerging technological advances before attempting an ablation. After a number of cardioversion procedures over the years, each with varying degrees of temporary success but ultimately failing, I was referred to Dr. Dusa, now with excellent insurance secured through the ACA (Obamacare).

Dr. Dusa transformed my heart health, subsequently my life, in his brilliant attention to detail. Following my first ablation procedure I relapsed and the next month he and the impressive staff succeeded in restoring my heart to perfect, sinus rhythm. I highly recommend this very skilled, talented and compassionate physician for any such cardiological procedures. Novant and Charlotte are quite fortunate to have someone of Dr. Dusa's caliber available.

Dr.Dusa has the best interests of patients at forefrount. He didn't do scheduled surgery on me when pretests showed it would be too risky. He called me early the day after the tests to explain to me, with drawings, why he felt an AV node ablation would be safer than a left atrial ablation and sent me back to the referring doctor for that procedure.

I was referred to Dr. Dusa by my regular cardi8ologist, who is in the same practice. I had previously had one ablation, which cured Atrial Flutter. I needed a second one to correct a more severe atrial fibrillation which began occurring about two years after the first procedure.. Dr. Dusa carefully explained the problemm the procedure, how complicated it is, etc etc. He took the time to be careful with me and did not pull any punches. There are not a lot of Drs. who are trained to do what he does, which in my case was a "total pulmonary Ablation - in which catheters are passed from one atrium to the other, through the membrane that separates the atria. Sounds scary, and it is. Mine was successful, thank God. My fib. when it hit was totally debilitating, and now I am cured. If you have this procedure be warned...you will not be able to do a lot requiring physical exertion for about three months, which is how long it takes the healing and reduction in swelling in the heart to occur. I was able to live with that in order to hgave a much more normal life.

He's a great Dr., is upfront about everything, and I highly recommend him.

I've suffered from A-Fib for most of my adult life first being diagnosed at 24 years old, I'm 69 now!Dr. Dusa told me more in one visit than all of the Dr.s in the past! His knowledge was tempered with common sense! It all finally made sense after 45 years of questions, they were all answered! Dr. Dusa cut to the chase, he had to cut through 40 years of bad information and my denial, He tells it like it is! Due diligence is the best way to describe his methods! If your looking for good medicine and care, he's your guy, if your looking for someone who's going to hold your hand and feed you doughnuts, your going to the wrong guy!

My husband was diagnosed with an irregulary heart beat in July 2013. We learned that Dr. Dusa specialed in the procedure that he would need done and was referred to him from a cardiologist we were previously assigned to. Our experiences have been nothing but the best each visit with him which totaled over 20 visits in 6 months. He was EXTREMELY detailed and took the time to even draw a diagram to explain to us what was going on with his heart. He never rushed his appointments and took the time to answer all of your questions thoroughly. Each interaction with him was not typical of a Dr; he called my husband, stopped by numerous times between making rounds and truly advocated for his needs. My husband just had the ablation procedure he needed to get his heart back to normal and we truly are grateful to have him as a permanent cardiologist.
