Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Complete jerk, very flippant, does not respect your time. If you are depressed, you will feel worse when you leave. Couldn't care less about you.

I have been seeing Dr. Attia for 3-4 years. I have found him to be extremely knowledgable, attentive, and deeply concerned for my welfare. He spends whatever time is reasonably needed with patients so, yes, the wait in his office can sometimes be long. I find it is occasionally frustrating but worth it. Take a book. I know that when I happen to be the one on any given day needing a little extra time, I will get it. So keep that in mind if you have to wait. You may be the one needing that extra attention on some days. I travel 40 minutes to see him.
He worked closely with me over many months to find the right combination and dosages of effective meds but also has persuaded me to stop one medication due to new research showing negative long term effects on the brain. It was ultimately my call, but I was grateful that he keeps up with all the latest research. And that he didn't want me over medicated. He works with my therapist; I know they have been in communication multiple times on my behalf. When I was in crisis and had to be hospitalized for a brief time, he called several hospitals to find a bed and waited with me in his office until very late at night until my spouse could pick me up.
He is not a b.s.-er. By his demeanor, he expects me to be an active participant in my own health, which makes me feel accountable for my self care. . I feel like we are partners in my care. Which is a very good thing. So can the wait be a little tiresome? Yes. But he is totally, totally worth it. This is a caring, extremely knowledgable guy.
As a side note, one of the commenters here is all revved up about a lawsuit Attia was involved in. A closer reading of the documentation shows that he was only included because he was affiliated with the hospital being sued. And he was separated out and his case dismissed. As I recall, the suit was against Sibley. And since he is now the Chief of their psychiatry department(!), I think you can draw your own conclusion about his strong integrity and the medical community's opinion of him.

Spends a lot of time with patients -- doesn't rush into medication without doing comprehensive screening first. Never feel like you are rushed while talking with him. Wait is long in the office, but I believe it is because he is such a good doctor and will make room in the schedule for emergencies.

"I got called back twice by someone who was very unhelpful with a heavy ACCENT about a month after I called. Who promised to call back but did not. Unless you have the insurance they like or they happen to be short of business- do not expect a call back. They NEVER answer their phone."
You spoke to Gina, the receptionist, who has a heavy accent, and who spends no time returning calls. I think Dr Attia is a Quack also - after 6 yrs with him, the last 5 on a med plan that worked, and now all of a sudden wants to take me off of all my meds. He only sees you long enough to write scrips, and even with him answering his phone in your "session", the appointments have never lasted longer than 5 to 10 minutes. He also thinks all his patients are addicts, as his practice has a lot of patients being treated for opioid abuse, but what ticks me off the most is his assuming you are one too. His reception room is so crowded I had to wait, standing up, or sitting on the carpet, as all the chairs are taken.
I'm going to see if I can see the other Dr in that suite of offices.

So, unless you prefer your Dr. to not listen, wait 2 hrs as he is 2 hrs behind, and never hear from the receptionist, do you and your mental illness elsewhere.

I was severely overmedicated. He refused to talk with my therapist. She wrote him a letter and he did not reply or return any of her calls. I was in crisis and he would not even speak to her then. I switched doctors and am doing better on less meds.

My 17 year old daughter has been seeing see's Dr. Attia for about 3 years. As a mother I trust him. He is a great doctor. I would highly recommend him. You may need to leave a message when calling for a appointment but, he is well worth the wait.

He does TMS treatments according to the website. I have been calling for over a year trying to get an appointment. I left about 8 messages. I got called back twice by someone who was very unhelpful with a heavy ACCENT about a month after I called. Who promised to call back but did not. Unless you have the insurance they like or they happen to be short of business- do not expect a call back. They NEVER answer their phone.
