In my opinion, Dr Hutchings is a very professional, knowledgable, caring physician. He is gruff and can be short on conversation. Sometimes people expect to get prescribed a pill to fix something that might not be fixable, and in their frustration blame the doctor. My issues don't have a resolution, but he has offered me some support, ideas for lifestyl changes that might help and some pain relief. I deeply appreciated his efforts.

At first due to some of the bad ratings here, I was scared. I soon discovered he has a dry and uncanny wit, that is part of his persona....I liked him, and would go back....he is a nice man and a great doctor! Most Islanders have dry sense of humor, so perhaps it's contageous, get over it and move on. I had no problem asking questions or getting answers. Kinda thought Dr. Hutchings was unique....that's me! I am never intimidated...by anyone....once you get a grip on that, you have won the battle...try it you might like it!

Well if he took the time to saw patients he may he be more helpful...or had a better receptionist. Lots of people looking for work.

I went to him for a horrible head pain & dizziness. Sent me for MRI. Did not hear from him for over 6 months. Office staff cold & condescending as was he. Would not go back to him or recommend to anyone.

Dr. Hutchings is a very compassionate doctor who gave me a lot of his time. I never felt rushed and I know my concerns were taken very seriously. He is very professional and I know I am getting the best care possible.

I went to see him when I was 18 because I had been having intense migranes since I was 13. I was getting migranes that would last weeks sometimes months on end. He checked my reflexes, asked what I was already on (anti-psychotics as a preventive? didn't work, made me stuck inside my own head as the anti-depressants I was later prescribed as another preventive) and that was about it. 6 months later I see him again, still no help. Still getting them 4 years later, not as intense, but still no fun.

I have been told by various staff at the hospital that Dr. Hutchings is a very good diagnostician. He has been treating my husband for about 3 years now, and the only complaint we have is the difficulty getting in to see him. His is a very busy office. Every person is different, so it would be very difficult for him to guess what the outcome of any medication or disease process might be. He answers our questions quite succintly and doesn't give any false hopes, and for that I am grateful.
