I have only visited Dr. Thompson a few times, but I will definitely see him again next time the need arises. He is very friendly, a good listener, and offers helpful advice (although he talks kind of fast, which can take some getting used to). He is good about offering inexpensive treatment options for uninsured patients. Also, uninsured patients who pay upfront in cash get a a 20% discount (a better deal than I have received from other providers in the area).

Dr. Thompson is a great doctor. He talks fast. It is very important to write down all your symptoms and questions before you go so you don't forget what you want to ask. Once he gets to know you as one of his regulars, he is always willing to squeeze you on a busy day when you are sick. His office has urgent care in the evenings and on weekend so you can always see him or one of his partners on that day instead of suffering longer. This is a great practice for families with children.

Dr. Thompson is my husband's doctor, although I have seen him myself a few times. We both think he is an excellent doctor. He seems very current on his knowledge and very interested in how things work and the science behind them. He seems to have an engineer's brain. He is not quick to unnecessarily prescribe, yet does not hesitate to treat if necessary. As an added bonus, he is the Carilion Blacksburg office's unofficial dermatology expert, which was invaluable to me when I had a skin condition several years ago that other doctors hadn't been successful in treating. He knew exactly what it was and helped me clear it up immediately. Dr. Thompson is direct and no-nonsense yet funny at the same time. And, yes, he does speak quickly! We highly recommend him.

Dr. Thompson listens, gives you health care "tools", talks fast but truthfully, actually is entertaining but teaching if you take his advice and knows when to recommend and when to just prescribe. An exceptional physician who relates very respectfully.

An extremely knowledgeable Doctor. I have family in the field and find out about latest treatments for my chronic conditions from them. Thompson ALWAYS is aware of them. Talks to me like I am an intelligent adult. Gives me choices about treatment courses. Keeps saying he is "giving me the tools I need to manage my illnesses" rather than acting like he is God and I must obey. Listens to me when I talk. Everything you could want in a Doc!

Dr. Thompson has always been very helpful to me. He takes time to answer all my questions and helps me find ways to save on medications. Sometimes he goes on and on about things but that's okay he has never seemed rushed to me. I also recommend Dr. Thompson to family and friends.

I find Dr Thompson to be varible, everything from barely interested to really enthusiatic about discussing your issues. I think he is quick to throw meds at you and rush you out the door. He is kind but cursory in the aggregate and I think treats his patients like their intelligence is marginal at best.

Chad Thompson is a great doctor. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. His ability to communicate with his patients sets him apart. I recommend him to my friends.
