Dr Hoffert is the best DR in Powell River. For those reading These reviews, please note that he has aspergers and does have poor people
Skills because of this.

You don’t want to be best friends with your Dr. You want the best Dr you get it. Blake is truly a genius. if you want the best possible care in an isolated town..... this is who you want.

Went to this doctor for over a year. He does not care at all. Mean person. No empathy for patient at all. Finally left in frustrated with no treatment. I truly believe the good postings on this board are planted here. This guy is the worst doctor in Canada. Stay away.

I was not looking for a best friend when I met Dr. Hoffert. I was looking for someone who knew what to do. I first met with the head of the Vanvouver Cancer Clinic and he told me that I was very fortunate to have Blake on my side and that he considered him to be a genius. I have been in his care for over a year now and I agree and thrilled he was there for me. As for personality... treat him with the respect he deserves and in turn you will be treated the same. Powell River is blessed with many good, caring Doctors and Healthcare Providers, especially for a small community and I for one could not be more pleased to move back here after 30 years away and be treated so incredibly well.

Dr. Hoffert is a brilliant scientist/doctor with terrible people skills. We chose to appreciate what he is good at, and tolerate what he is not good at. No one is good at everything, and he is human like anyone else. He helped my mother live 5 more years despite her aggressive cancer, and for that I'm grateful.

Dr. Hoffert can overload you with information but I appreciate that when trying to make educated decisions regarding health care. He doesn't push pills. He spends time with everyone, and juggles several responsibilities at the hospital, thus he tends to run late but he doesn't double book. He is a thorough history taker and can quickly focus in on the problem. On occasion he can seem gruff and impolite but it is not intentional, it is usually when he is overwhelmed with workload or a patient is unwilling to take responsibilty for their own health. He has caught things that other docs have missed with my father and if myself or anyone I loved was critically ill I would breathe a sigh of relief the minute he stepped in to the room. He is an old school doc, well trained, competent and experienced. On separate occasions he took care of my father and mother-in-law who both had to be flown to Vanc and the docs at St. Pauls all spoke very highly of his credentials.

This man gets his protocols (cancer guidelines) from the BCCA. He doesn't come up with any brilliant cancer treatments on his own. He is not an 'oncologist' per se but an internist. He is rude, arrogant, not very bright, has no compassion. Our town could & should get another oncologist and send him to the States. I go out of town for my treatment and would not let him touch me with a 10 foot pole. He wanted to put in a PICC line when I first met him.I declined and got a second opinion. At the BCCA they do not do PICC lines-too much chance of infection they said. So why does he do them? I think he cares nothing for patients or their suffering and I would STRONGLY suggest anyone with a diagnosis of cancer to seek another opinion in Van or Victoria - anywhere else. This man should be a car salesman, not a doctor.

Dr. Hoffert has abad attitude. He is very arrogant and rude. He thinks he is always right. He made things way more stressful for me I will not see him again.

Dr. Hoffert needs to lose his attitude. He is not helpful and adds far more stress to a situation that is already stressful. Go away from our little town.
