I’ve been a patient of Dr. Puksa’s for many years. In my opinion, he is the best!!! He has a lot of experience working in ICU, and in his field, and he never leaves a stone unturned. Through a bronchoscopy, he found a rare lung infection before it spread to other organs and he referred me to an infectious disease specialist. The infectious disease specialist told me this infection is only discovered in about 20% of people who have it because it’s so difficult to detect and Dr. Puksa diagnosed it. Many people find out when it’s too late. Dr. Puksa has seen me through some of the most difficult times, such as diagnosing me with bronchiectasis and sending samples to the lab to ensure I didn’t have metastasis from breast cancer and pulmonary emboli. When tests are necessary, he and his secretary get you in for the appointments in a timely manner. He has an excellent bedside manner, he’s kind, caring and I have always trusted his judgment. His secretary is a lovely lady and she is always friendly and kind. I’m saddened by the negative reviews below as I have never experienced that at all. As for the status of the office, who cares what it looks like? I’m there for an appointment, not expecting a beautiful decorated office.

Dr. Puksa is a very thorough doctor. He has treated me for many years and has given me much advice to get my asthma under control. We have changed my puffers several times, to get the best there is for me. People have to learn to listen and use their puffers properly to make a difference in their over all well being. He teaches you how to properly use your peak flow meter and inhalers. He leaves no stone unturned, to get to the root of the problem. He listens intently when you are explaining what you have been experiencing, since your last visit to his office, or on the telephone. He comes to the point and deals with things immediately. In my humble opinion, he is the best there is. Kind and caring.

I did not have an appointment with Dr. Puksa but needed to pass through his waiting room to see a different doctor. I was told by the receptionist of the doctor I was seeing, to wait before climbing two steps to her office. Dr. Puksa walked into the building and told me to get out because I was not allowed to stand in his waiting room. When I told him that I was following instructions, he rudely stated that I should get out and wait outside. I had never been to the office before and had no knowledge that I was in his space. He looked at me like I was a criminal and his rudeness was unwarranted, a bit scary, and added to an already stressful medical appointment. The issue he had was clearly not with me, but with sharing a poorly configured common space with another doctor. I have to leave a rating in order to be able to leave this review but I have no knowledge of Dr. Puksa’s medical skill, only that his interpersonal skills require attention.

I wish there was a 0 rating. this dr and his secretary should not even be in business. my brother waited 6 months for a referral to be faxed for a condition that this guy had no knowledge of. do to the incompentance of not facing the referral led to his death which could have been prevented had a dam fax been sent. His secretary is another issue. The rudeness of her. I wouldn't trust him with my dog !!. He will be reported to the academy of medicine .

He seems to have a chip on his shoulders and gives off the impression that the patient is inconveniencing him. I found him to be very abrupt and arrogant. How upsetting when you are finding out that you have cancer. His receptionist is lovely and has a much superior and professional attitude than Dr Puska. For a doctor, he has a terrible bedside manner! Maybe it’s time for him to retire. I am not impressed with this man at all.

Dirty office as this does not exist in third world countries, but does exist in Hamilton. I am surprised that that sanitary inspection did not close this office. The receptionist looks like someone that does smoke as a chimney and she works for respirologist. The equipment for measuring the lung capacity has dust on it, and I am sure wasn't not sanitized or cleaned since last century. I made a huge mistake by using that equipment, because I ended up getting sick a day or two after I visited this dr. However, he seems experienced and knowledgeable, but I wouldn’t go there again.

Dr. Puksa paid serious attention to my symptoms at a time when no other specialist would. He recognized that my respiratory condition was not ordinary asthma and ordered tests that revealed a very serious illness. By the time, I saw Dr. Puksa I was feeling hopeless. He restored my optimism and gave me the attention and care I needed. I found him methodical, informed, patient and compassionate. I also really liked his assistant and found her to be friendly and polite on the phone.
