Right now I just want to warn people that this guy doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing. This was like a last resort for me because the meds either never worked or would stop working. After a ridiculous Gene test (this is a scam btw! It’s a test for metabolizing certain medications. You still have to try the new med. It cannot tell you what med will actually work and what dose you need!), he ripped me off all my meds. Then I was put on yet another cocktail. Guy is tied to prescribing a few antipsychotics that all have the side effect of Akathisia. No I didn’t get Akathisia from Latuda (that I know of!). This guy sent me to detox instead of tapering me off my Benzo. Had never abused the medication as I was/am in recovery. He didn’t listen when I questioned detox. I told him I had 16 yrs of sobriety and it’s like I didn’t say anything. Yeah, I got sober when I was 19. It actually happens! I trusted this guy. I may come back and leave the link to my blog which tells everyone what happened and what’s happening now. His colleague seems better and actually seemed to care. He even offered to put me back on Benzos at one point. Kehr basically ghosted me when I came home from detox damaged and unstable. I was suffering from withdrawal Akathisia that has lasted for years. I didn’t figure out what I had was Akathisia for two years!! Was told it was “rebound anxiety” by everyone! My blog describes feeling restless, can’t sit still, my legs are always moving, I’m pacing. Yeah, no one picked up on it. No I can’t just stop taking a drug to make it go away. Please don’t down play this. I don’t respond to the typical treatments either. No I can’t go back on a Benzo. I have full blown chronic Akathisia now. If I had enough strength I would sue for malpractice. I can’t earn an income. I’m completely disabled by what this guy did. Should have reviewed this guy earlier when this happened, but man. I don’t know how to stress how bad things are because of the decisions made by Dr Kehr.

I can't say enough about our experience at Potomac Psychiatry. I would like to focus on two things specifically.
I have two specific things to say about Potomac Psychiatry. First, the level of care is extraordinary, inspired, deeply personal, and worth every penny. Dr. Kehr's brilliance and success in treating patients is well known, but also he is so very kind. That quality is exemplified throughout the office. It's an important distinction, often overlooked when choosing a medical practice. Second, we were actually relieved to find that we could pay via credit card as with other emergency service models like poison control and urgent veterinary care. We needed immediate action and were able to begin treatment with no 800 numbers to call, no permissions to get in advance, and were able to file our own claims on our own time afterward. It was what we needed and it totally worked. If you are looking for competence and courtesy, you can find any number of doctors up to those average standards. But if you are looking for consistently exceptional treatment in a practice proven over decades, Dr. Kehr is the one.

From the very beginning, I have found Dr. Kehr very easy to connect with - that he hears and processes what I say. He relates to me as an adult, not a "patient." Very quickly, he addressed my issues (ADHD) and also identified possible sleep apnea which has since been confirmed. I've gone from feeling that my life was going downhill to feeling that I am back in control of my life. The person who cited the (two 4x6) pictures of his cars neglected to mention the wall full of artwork and messages from his kids. That works for me; I prefer that to being in a sterile office with someone who asks me "how do you feel about that?" He may not be for everyone - no doctor is - but he was the right choice for me.

He is the BEST DOCTOR in the world. He was voted top 100 out of all the psychiatrists in the United States. I'm very, very proud to have him as my doctor. He LISTENS and really does CARE about your needs and how to best deal with them. That means the world to me. I consider myself very lucky,to have him as my Doctor and highly recommend him.
