Dr Blaes was dismissive of my concerns and pretty much ignored everything I have shared with him about the episodes I have observed. He ushered me out barely a few minutes into the appointment claiming "our time is up".
I am completely disappointed how uncaring and unprofessional the whole visit felt. If you are looking for professional help you may want to skip this Town Center Psychiatrics.

Dr. Blaes came highly recommended by another one of my doctor's and I'm so glad i took his advise! 1st impressions are everything and the front desk manager Mary was very friendly and gave me directions THAT WORKED :) and was very kind when i arrived. When Dr. Blaes met with me, he was very easy to talk to and since i hv high anxiety/panic disorder, a doctor with a calm demeanor that understands that made me feel calm enough to tell him my history. He totally hit the nail on the head, when it came to medication because i didnt even know there was an extended release version of what i take, and i was so happy because for the first time in a while, i have hope that this regimen will help me with my mental health. I wish i would've found Dr. Blaes YEARS ago thats how impressed i am. If you are un-sure about your doc and treatment you are getting, please go to Dr. Blaes and you will see what i mean! :)

I hope Dr. Peter V. Blaes has been sued for the harm he has caused his former patients. I'm sure he has been a nice guy to some people, and that is understandable. But understand he has contributed in ruining peoples lives. He almost ended my life, and it was many years ago. It truly makes me sad to see the bad reviews because I know they are all true. All of them, every last bit. To abandon your patients with no explanation is cruel, when i asked him why, in front of other patients of his in the waiting room. He waived his hand and said "I can't deal with you anymore." A phone call or letter would have worked much better, and would have not left me so depressed, and more so confused. He is just heartless, possibly a sociopath. Stay away.

From April, 2015-November, 2016, Dr. Blaes was my psychiatrist. We chose Dr. Blaes solely because of his office location. His charge is $125/office visit. My visits were once/month. Wait time was short. He spent an average of 8-10 minutes/visit with me. Always he seemed distracted. Dr. Blaes' strong interest in his finances contrasts with a remarkable disinterest in his patients' well-being. We hope our answers to this survey will help others.

Doc is impatient, rude, egotistical, condescending, and argumentative. These are traits that are ill suited to a psychiatrist. Prescribes meds while providing little or no information on side effects or long term potential for addiction. His methodology for making assessments to make a diagnosis lacks rigorous diagnostic criteria. But he does accept insurance, which puts him in a unique category of generosity relative to many Washington area psychiatrists, who do not accept insurance. But there are others who do in this area so I would recommend attempting to see them before subjecting yourself to the sub-optimal medicine that this physician provides.

Dr. Blaes is very knowledgable and effective, I found. He helped me several years ago when I was in the depths of depression with acute anxiety and sleeplessness. He knew exactly what combination of meds to prescribe, said with confidence that I would get better (which right there opened up a window of hope), and I did, in due course. Emerged better than ever and weaned off of each med.

I have been seeing Dr. Blaes for several years and am shocked at the bad reviews on here about him. He has always been caring, compassionate and very helpful to me. He even went above and beyond the call of duty when I called him once and left a message on his voice mail that I was worried about a co-worker who was suicidal. He called me right back at work and gave me very clear and specific advice on how to deal with my co-worker to keep her safe. How many doctors would be that supportive to a non-patient? He also always gives me a positive perspective on difficulties in my life so I can leave the office with a new outlook on life.

He is a rude doctor, does not take the time to listen and have discussions, is an arrogant prick who doesn't care about his patients, spends 10 minutes with you not hearing a word you say. NO ONE SHOULD SEE THIS DOCTOR UNLESS YOU WANT TO NOT GET WELL!!!!! Complaints have been filed with insurance and AMA.

Dr. Blaes is a good doctor however, his reception is rude, unprofessional and has the common sense of a rock. It is ridiculous how mean she is and makes you feel as though you are bothering her. if it weren't for Dr. Blaes, I would leave because she is by far the most ignorant and unappreciative receptionist I have ever ran across.
