I had Dr.Shapiro for all 3 of my kids. She delivered my 3rd just two weeks ago. She is a no none sense doctor. I always felt confident in her care. If you are looking for a warm caring type of OB she is not for you. But if you are looking for a doctor that knows her stuff then she is the doctor for you. Even when earlier in my pregnancy I had several genetic tests that I needed done, I did not worry as I felt confident in her care and I felt at ease when speaking with her. I got excellent care during my pregnancy ,

I never had to wait for more than 10 minutes at my appointments but that's because Dr. Shapiro only spends 3-5 minutes with her patients. She would be out the door and down the hallway by the time I wanted to ask her a question. If you are going to be a first time mom I would not have her as your OB, you won't get the care you need. Carrie her receptionist is the best and was the highlight of my visits.

Dr Shapiro, her nurse Anne and Carrie are simply the best - my experience could not have been any smoother. I was confident that I was receiving the best quality of care throughout my pregnancy. Dr. Shapiro even rushed to the hospital to try to deliver me before her shift.

I don't really know how to rate Dr. Shapiro since I haven't actually seen her that much throughout my check up appointments. The initial appointment was brief. the follow up were even faster. she never engaged in conversation with me about my pregnancy/ expectation/ concerns etc. I'm not saying she's a bad doctor, and I'm not a very stressed out person with paranoiac questions that needs constant care, but a bit more engagement would have been nice. especially since its my first one. I feel like I don't really have a doctor.

My experience with Jodi Shapiro is so bad that it was scary. The appointments I had with her were extremely rushed (never over 4 minutes) I would often see her sitting in her office with no patients as she gets her appointments out of the office so quickly. She prescribed medication that made my situation worse, didn't listen when I explained that I was increasingly worse pain, and recommended a surgery that I didn't not need and would not have resolved the problem (I have since seen two specialists who confirmed this). When I asked her questions about other medications they were dismissed saying that I should just keep waiting for this medication to work. On top of that she is incredibly rude and seems to lack any shred of empathy or compassion. Her assistant is quite nice but I would recommend staying far, far, away from this lady.

Dr. Shapiro was my OB. She wants her patients in and out as quickly as possible and doesn't take time to explain the birthing procedures, policies or advise of potential outcomes. As someone who had an extremely complicated labour after a very easy, trouble-free pregnancy, I found her follow-up care to be terrible. She even lied about coming to visit myself and my baby the day following birth! I continue to deal with long term complications, but she has nothing to offer other than "it will get better". I have found a new OB at Sunnybrook who is now treating me, with far more car and insight than I ever got from Dr. Shapiro. If I had to sum up my impression, it's that she doesn't care about her patients AT ALL.

I just had a successful surgery with Dr. Shapiro. I find her to be an excellent doctor and would recommend her to anyone. Her staff are very good as well. Thank you very much.

I would have rated Dr. Shapiro much higher, until my 39th week of pregnancy came along. At this appointment, I was told I would have "an exam". What really happened was she performed a membrane sweep without my permission, or even telling me what it was (I had to lookup the term afterwards) This is totally unacceptable, and I will be reporting this behaviour (which I understand happens with some regularity at Mt. Sinai) to the Ontario College of Physicians. Her follow up care was also dismal, despite my ending up with serious long-term complications from my delivery.

I have been with Dr. Shapiro now for two pregnancies. In the first I found her to be very off-putting due to the bedside manner issue cited below. That said, having now been with her again I have found her to be extremely helpful and engaging. She is a wonderful surgeon which I think is more important than being warm and fuzzy, particularly since she now has a very kind nurse to assist her with that part. I believe you would be extremely well-served in choosing Dr. Shapiro.

I think Dr. Shapiro is great. She's busy as you would expect but very friendly and knowledgeable. Her nurse is wonderfully pleasant and spent lots of time with me, answering all my questions.
