Dr. Maccarone has been my physician for years, and I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for a physician. He is highly qualified, compassionate, and a hard working individual. He provides excellent care, and takes the time to listen to you. He is very personable and has a way of making you feel like a friend not just a patient or just a number. I cannot say enough about Dr. Maccarone, he is a wonderful physician and I highly recommend him. He is truly a valuable asset to this community. God Bless Dr. Maccarone.

Good Doctor....Wholistic approach, clean. neat, pleasant, and fairly knowledable. Dr. Maccarone takes his time with patients and allows patients to contact him on his cell phone for emergencies!

I recommend Dr. Maccarone and the staff at Gateway Medical Associates....for those looking for a new Primary Care Physician. His new staff is friendly and very professional. My longest wait has been around 30 minutes but it was more than worth the wait. I appreciate the available weekend hours and the pleasant, knowledgable PAs and NPs.

Dr. Maccarone is very thorough, and I appreciate his caring staff. My billing questions are always answered promptly and with extended hours, it is easy to see the Dr. and/or his Physician Extenders. I especially like PA Randy Wall and NP Joseph Williams.

I once reviewed Gateway Medical Associates as reliable and caring. Unfortunately, since then, this practice has deteriorated considerably. They're unable to keep staff due to a poor/stressful working environment. Once you've begun to build a relationship with a doctor/nurse practitioner, they'll find better working conditions elsewhere, and you'll be forced to begin the process all over again. The last practitioner I met with couldn't even write a prescription because he had not yet received his certification. At the time of my last review, they were very reliable at returning phone calls. Since then, your best bet is to physically stop by the office to make an appointment, or continually call until you reach someone, because if you leave a message, it's highly unlikely you'll hear back from them. I'm currently in the process of finding a better practice that will actually care about the needs and concerns of their patients, and not simply "how much money can be pulled in each day."

The staff here is horrible. They rarely answer the phone and very rarely call you back when you leave a message for an appointment. I have even called several times a day for six days before getting an answer. They have had several staff quit recently and the service has gotten worse. Sometimes I wait more than two hours past my appointment time and over an hour even if I am the first patient of the day! They bill for things the insurance company has already paid for and have been sent numerous balance billing letters. And if you have to cancel, even if you call more than 24 hours in advance they don't check the messages so you get charged anyway for a no show. I have been trying to change doctors but no one is accepting my insurance. The doctor might be good, but if you can't ever get in to see him/them then what is the point?

I've been waiting a month for a referral not to mention a return phone call, Why have a answering machine if you never return calls? Ms. Brown is very sweet and friendly, not that it will do much good when you are dead from being ignored and not treated.

Wait time is up to 3 hrs., ALWAYS, then he palms you off on another of his associates. And don't forget to bring cash for your co-pay; you will be charged $5 if you use a debit card. Dr. Maccarone has his staff call to have you make a follow-up appt. for lab work ordered by specialists that he has referred you to--despite the fact that the other doctor has already reviewed the results with you. He shows up at the hospital following surgery performed by other doctors and charges insurance for it. He rarely does any "hands-on" exam of patients. My husband mentioned that he may have a POSSIBLE prostate problem and the doctor wrote a prescription without any exam or lab work. Dr. Maccarone is all about money and he loves to talk about the new lake house he is building and how much it costs.
