Dr. Mark D. Whitaker is perplexing. He is an outstanding doctor....when he wants to be. I have been a patient of his for 21 years. His services are rather hit and miss, depending on his case load. His assistants tend to overbook him. Speaking of his assistants, they are awful! They are usually rude (very rare to get a nice one) and do not tend to the patient at all. Like I said, Dr. Mark Whitaker is an outstanding doctor, when he is not in a rush. He does tend to look over certain complaints though, I am guessing it is due to the likelihood that people use complaints to their advantage to score meds? Who knows. All I know is regardless he should treat each patient individually to the fullest, which like stated before, is a hit and miss.

I was a patient of Dr. Mark W. since he was right out of medical School. His office is so incompitent. Not only had they called in wrong Rxs on more than one occasion, if the pharmacy wasn't right on it I would be dead. I also needed a note stating I had spent a week in the hospital for my job they dicked around so long I lost my job. I quit going to this doctor over ten years ago, to this day his office will not release my records and it cost me my disibilty case now as well. This Dr and his office staff ESP Stephanie should not be in practice just saying how many mistakes and oversights does it take? Dr. Mark W. Was a good doctor, but his staff ruined his practice and he sat there not listening to his patients and let it happen.

I've have been with Dr Whitaker for many years and used his father until he retired. I agree it is sometimes hard to get in to see him but I still keep going. Recently I was having chest pains. He sent me to see a Cardio. They did a stress test and say I was fine. Several weeks went by and I was still having pains. Dr Whitaker said he wanted to make sure it was nothing serious. He sent me again to the Cardio. When I got to the Cardio office, Dr Whitake was on the phone with him. He saw me right away and 3 days later I had to have 2 stents inserted into my arteries. It was because of Dr Whitake's care that my problem was caught it time.

My Mom and Dad had been patients of Dr. Whitaker, and his father, for a good many years. I sent my Dad to see Dr. Whitaker because of memory issues. Dad left his office believing he was in perfect health. A short time later he had a massive stroke. Two and a half months later he died of complications from the stroke. The hospital staff informed me that he had a blocked carotid artery and the large valve at the top of his heart was not functioning properly. This is what caused the stroke. After his death I called Marc Whitaker to find out why he did not know of Dad's problems. His response was "he didn't have any symptoms." Needless to say I'm not at all happy with the care my father received from Dr. Whitaker. I wish these comments could bring my Dad back, but they can't.

I find the doctor to be helpful when you actually get to see him. No help with staff or his assistant over the phone. He is kind, soft spoken and does go out of his way to help. I have been with him for the past several years but his leaving his own practice to work with a group of other doctors has made it more structured and less personal though he has tried to stay the same as he always has been. He has given me the names of various specialists who have proven to be very good. His staff is great when you actually get to go in for an appointment but it seems the company is far more interested in getting you back in so that they can charge more money...not his doing but he policy of the company. Dr. Whitaker has helped me in several ways and I find him to be very effective in treating me. He does take the time you need with him when you are with him in the exam room.

Dr. Whitaker's staff is incompetent and can be rude since his assistant Stephanie does not return calls or advise Dr. Whitaker to return patient phone calls. My last visit was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. I waited up to 2 hrs in the lobby, and waited an additional 1/2 hour in the patient room. Than Dr. Whitaker missed a very important issue with my lab work and stated all my numbers looked good, and just totally missed a very important issue. Another doctor noticed the issue and advised me to go back to Dr. Whitaker and tell him what he missed. Now I have a trust issue with Dr. Whitaker's competence in prescribing my medication and wonder what else he has overlooked in my past lab work he ordered. Now I have opted to find new doctor who has the time to really look at my lab work and prescribe the proper procedures that are best for me, and not keep me waiting almost 3 hrs to be seen by the doctor. My trust in Dr. Whitaker is gone.

Staff is blunt and rude, and the doctor never calls you back when you leave a message.
