All I had was a phone conversation with this guy and saw what a pathetic loser of a mental health "unprofessional" he is. I was surprised he answered the phone himself. I told him I was looking for a doc who took my insurance. I also liked that he "claimed" to be a Christian. He seemed to want to gauge what my issue was over the phone because he said something like "if that's the only reason you're wanting to come to me." Like, seriously? Do I need a better reason? It's expensive out of network! duh! I told him I needed medication management and had had a lot of issues with anti-depressants and weight gain. He bluntly said I don't have any anti-depressants that don't cause weight gain. I was like, ok, and I said thanks and then bye while he basically hung up in my face! "Dr." Colvard, you should think about how you treat patients and potential mental health patients when you call yourself a Christian. Disgusting doctor!

Dr. Colvard has anger issues of his own, don't ever use him. He is a straight shooter but is extremely harsh. I didn't go in there with weight issues but now I'm coming out with them, considering he called me "fat" and that "only a black man would marry me and no that's not racist it's just an observation" were his comments I believe. He's a waste of time and money, go elsewhere. I did not expect this from a healthcare professional and I am extremely disappointed.

Takes getting used to his personality and his direct communication. He is a caring, knowledgeable doctor that shoots you straight. He really helped me overcome my anxiety and depression. I eventually used a counselor for some of the therapy homework and used Dr. Colvard for the medicine, managing side effects, and reinforcement of the counseling.

Dr. Colvard has been my doctor for over 10 years and does an exellent job of helping me manage my chronic condition - ocd. When I first contacted him - referred to me by a friend - I had to leave a message and thought - well, I might get an appointment weeks from now. I was very surprised when Dr. Colvard called me back within a few hours and I had an appointment the next day. I find Dr. Colvard very personable, knowledgable and kind. I have never had a doctor to call me personally and this spoke volumes to me of his desire to truly help people. Dr. Colvard is Christian, which is very important to me. He does NOT put a religious spin on anything unless I ask him. And as a Christian myself, I appreciate it when he ends my appointment with prayer. My family had been through some very deep trauma and Dr. Colvard has also seen and been very helpful to members of my family. I highly reccommend Dr. Colvard- he has helped me so much!!

A pathetic excuse for a mental health care provider. I have been to several different doctors (I had 1 close his practice and 1 move away) and this nut is by far the least competent. I agree with the other patients who say he has he personality of a doormat. Basically, his idea of service was to weigh me (wtf??) and ask me how much I was drinking.... end of visit. How he stays in business is beyond me.

Dr. Colvard has the personality of a brick wall. He has no interpersonal skills whatsoever. Not surprising since he was an engineer at Georgia Tech before attending Duke Med School. His business is a one man show with no receptionist or secretary. He is incapable of relating to people and understanding real world problems because he has been a dork his entire life. If you think writing your thoughts out on a dry erase board is therapeutic, then go for it. Also, he prescribed me some of the most ineffective medications available. All it takes is one trip to his office (or website, www.drcolvard.com) to see just how eccentric Dr. Colvard really is. Although I am sure he is a very bright man with good intentions, Dr. Colvard is in the wrong profession.

Dr Colvard basically let me misdiagnose myself as bipolar disorder. He prescribed me so much seroquel I would fall asleep driving and working. I couldn't work. Lost my insurance. Couldn't afford the medicine. I Wound up in an emergency room from drug withdrawal. Now I can never afford health insurance again because, once diagnosed bipolar insurance companies won't touch you. I regret ever seeking treatment. Dr. Colvard was big on judgement and criticism and did nothing but over medicate me thus leaving me uninsured and suffering from a drug I could not afford. I think he was mad that the ER people bothered him at night. I am ashamed of the American Medical system. Dr Colvard could care less about treating people. Stay away from seroquel and stay away from uncaring doctors like David Colvard.
