I will try and explain my experience as quickly as I can. I had about three appointments total with Dr. Yeates. The first two went well since my pregnancy seemed to be going along smoothly. Then at 7 months my feet started to swell terribly so a short time later, a coworker recommended I start tracking my blood pressure. Over the next week or more, I noticed my blood pressure slowly creeping up (but nothing too concerning). On my next appointment with Yeates, my blood pressure reading was above normal. (133/99) She comes in the office and says she didn't like that reading, so did a manual check. Which she says was much lower and normal. I explained about the swelling and how I had been tracking my BP at home and that it was creeping up. She said the swelling was completely normal and to stop tracking my BP at home, all is fine. Two weeks later, I see Dr Tomas at my next appointment. Again, BP is high. She believes the reading and sends me over to the hospital for blood work. After the results come in that day, they admit me, and ensure I get two steroid shots for my babies lungs - suspecting I have Preclampsia and unlikely to carry to term. On the day I get discharged, I am sent home with BP medication and an order for bed rest. That night, I start experiencing abdominal pain. Thinking it was heartburn, I took a couple tums and went to bed (no idea the pain was coming from my liver - due to the high BP). By morning the pain was unbearable and my husband took me to the hospital. Took Yeates (who was on duty that day) about three hours to decide to ship me out to Orillia for an emergency c-section. It's unlikely she was aware of my Preclampsia diagnosis since the last time she saw me - all was fine in her opinion. We ended up being detoured to Barrie when I starting seizing and it was unlikely my baby and i were going to make it to Orillia. Turns out I had HELLP syndrome and my baby and I are EXTREMELY lucky to be here today. I don't like to think how things would have ended had I had Dr. Yeates for that last appointment - brushing off the high BP and sending me on my way. Dr. Yeates' ignorance and incompetence nearly killed us. I would highly recommend Dr. Tomas should you need a knowledgeable and competent OB. I truly believe Dr Tomas had a part in saving our lives (her and several surgeons at RVH). On a side note: If you are diagnosed with Preclampsia and experience abdominal pain - seek medical attention immediately! This was not explained to me and I think things would not have been as life-threatening should I have had that piece of advice. And do NOT let your OB brush off high blood pressure. Err on the side of caution for your sake and the sake of your baby.

She said she would call the surgeon and get back to me, weeks later and im still waiting, and getting worse. thanks for nothing.

I saw Dr Yeates a few years ago now, but feel the same way today as I did then, which is that every time I stepped into her office I was totalling wasting her time. She was also extremely condescending and not at all interested or, in my opinion, up to date or totally informed on the issue I was seeing her for. The best thing she ever did for me was refer me to another - much more qualified - OB.

I saw Dr. Yeates the other day for multiple reasons. She is so kind and caring and will do anything to make you feel comfortable. She was late for our appointment but I rated her punctuality high because every doctors office is slow. I was just glad that I was able to get into see her as she comes highly rated. I've seen many doctors and I have always read reviews but never have wrote on myself. I was so happy when I left her office, I almost feel as though I owe it to her to give her a 5 star rating. Thank you Dr. Yeates, I really appreciate the time to see me.

I've seen Dr. Yeates now for two miscarriages. Though the reason for our interaction was unfortunate, I was so impressed with her knowledge, expertise and professionalism that I felt compelled to leave her a positive review. Thank you Dr. Yeates for your quick and impressive analysis and for knowing exactly what to say and do during an uncomfortable time. You are very skilled at what you do and I am grateful to have been your patient.

Not a pleasant experience. This woman is extremely condescending. If questioned, she becomes irritable and nasty. If you're a senior with a health problem, she will minimize the problem with a smirk, and remind you, that you should feel lucky simply to still be alive. This was mentioned to me several times throughout the session. My problem didn't get resolved, leaving me to wonder if she really knew what she was doing. I left with the impression that this woman believes that people over the age of 65 are a waste of her time, and don't deserve proper medical care. I will not go back to this smug and spiteful character. Maybe she'll feel differently when she becomes a senior herself.

My issue is not with her competence as a physician but rather with her bedside manner. I felt as though I was just on a conveyer belt of pregnant patients. First off when I entered the room she did not have any clue about my past experience. She obviously had not read my file. How can a patient feel confident they are getting the best care if the doctor has not reviewed their information. She chatted about her self 80% of the ten minutes of my appointment. Instead of making me feel at ease when I had questions she made me feel as though my concerns were trivial. I did not feel this way with Dr. O'Toole, who in fact had read my file prior to my appointment and was very informative. Unfortunately you cannot choose which doctor you will get at your appointments. If I could I would definitely choose Dr. O'Toole.

I reviewed this doctor once before and gave her a glowing report card... unfortunately after more surgery I come out with a much different perspective! I was able to see her true colours after the last surgery. Having many complications and over 2 years since my first surgery suffering with the after effects of both surgeries. I have to endure more surgery once my body heals enough. The damage done in the last OR has caused immense pain, several hospital visits and almost a 2 month stay trying to fix the damage done. I am not looking forward to going through more. Her attitude was horrendous. When she was questioned about what happened, she changed in her demeanor. She is a totally different person after you question her errors, and what is going on. I cant believe I am writing this, I thought I found my "Angel", but after going through what I have been through... definitely my mind has changed

Doctor Yeates was the one who found out what my pain was and did a great job on my surgery. I will have to go back for more surgery, and trust her completely. She answers my questions thoroughly, and was a shoulder when I was in tears about how I was feeling...the pain is often unbearable, and she gets that! I am actually looking forward to my surgery knowing that when it's over, I will be free of pain after the healing. Dr Yeates was on the phone with me after my surgery when I had some post-op problems and knew immediately what was going on. 2 other doctors didn't have a clue. It is worth the hour and a half drive to see her...I was devestated when my other OB retired thinking omg...how will I find someone so great to replace him (he was amazing), but ....I did, and I love her!
