I absolutely do NOT recommend Dr Mahood. I took my daughter in for seizures his resident did all the work and he prescribed medication. Medication that had a large list of potential side effects (none of which he informed me of thank you pharmacist). He gave me the prescription and said, "call me if you think she needs to up the dose and we can do that otherwise see you in a year." He was not concerned in monitoring her in any way. I was not okay with that. I ended up getting a second opinion from a neurologist in Edmonton and am so happy I did.

My sister also seen him for her son. He took one look at him and said, "he doesn't have autism he can make eye contact." Not even five minutes and he was apparently sure of that. Never mind the fact that her son has been in speech for years because he has speech apraxia and one of their big focuses is looking at the instructor so he can see how his mouth is supposed to move. Even if he didn't like eye contact, he has spent years learning how to do it. Dr. Mahood would know that if he bothered to listen to my sister or let her explain why she thought he might need a diagnosis. Instead, he was more interested in getting her out of his office and dismissing her concerns than he was about doing his actual job.
For the record her son does in fact, have autism.

Go see Dr. Mahood if you like wasting your time and needing second opinions or you know go to a doctor who actually cares about his patients and their well-being over getting through his day as fast as possible.

I took my 11th month old son in because he was waking up every 1.5 hours gasping for breath, coughing screaming in pain and in clear discomfort all night when he’s sleeping. He spent the entire visit talking about autism and blaming parents for causing it (which wasn’t a concern of mine) and then told me I need to “will him to sleep” by leaving him all night to cry alone and that he is putting on this behavior to get attention… I went to another doctor and he was diagnosed with asthma, given an inhaler and instantly started sleeping peacefully though the night.

This doctor has not kept up to date with medical research. He's collecting a paycheque. He said my child's tonsils were not very large subsequently three other doctors said they were huge. It turned out they were so huge we had a sleep study done and the tonsils are causing obstructive sleep apnea. This doctor also seems weirdly obsessed with talking to patients about autism and how he believes that children are watching too much tv and this is causing autism. Which had nothing to do with our child or friends children who have visited this guy. It's unfortunate that there are doctors like this that are wasting peoples time and hard earned money.

We were referred to him for ADHD and he spent a good amount of time assessing my child, he listened to our specific struggles with the diagnosis and suggested a new medication and it was magic.

First visit and we got 1 hr visit, they where very thorough and super nice.
15 year said that was a great Dr.

Aa a mother I had a very traumatic experience with him. My 2yr old daughter has a speech delayed and after asking some photos in the book ofcourse she can't tell what are those he told me straight that my daughter has autism. And I told him that according to her hearing test there is something blocked on her ears and he told me "do you actually believe that?" Seems like I am indenial of my daughter's condition. But ofcourse I am aware there is something wrong with her that is why we are there and doing lots of theraphy and tests. But to tell me to not to believe to the hearing test?? What should I do?? And saying straight to me that she has autism, I know there is a possibility but pls before saying something run more tests that just asking the picture on the book. It was so traumatic to me then and don't know what should I believe in that time. Questioning myself, my belief and being a mother. I can't drive on our way home after that and whenever I have a follow up visit I am too scared what he will say to me again.

worst doctor ever, asked questions to doctor bout our daughter, didn't know how to get a straight answer he had to ask another person about our daughter's medical problems, that is NOT a very well educated doctor. the front desk receptionists were also rude, but the doctor was a full joke, when my husband knew a bit more than he did got peeved off and then did not want to see my daughter anymore, cause he didn't know his knowledge very well, he should not be a doctor give this doctor and his office a zero in their help.

There office has not done much to help our 8 year daughter since she was born. Somehow they can diagnose her with nothing, and does not believe she has autism which is kinda hard when you only see her for 10 mins once a year. We had to get aspire to take a look at her which they did diagnose her with autism.

Dr mahood is the sweetest person ever. He is so calm and looks good too. He did my sons circumcision and it was absolutely nice. I will use him over and over again .

Dr Mahood performed our son's circumcision last month and we were very happy with the results. He was professional but personable and took the time to explain the procedure ahead of time and answer our questions. Had a sense of humor and helped a nervous mom feel more relaxed and comfortable!
