I was diagnosed with herniated disks and Toppin prescribed OxyContin for pain.I asked if they were addictive and he said no. While at my appointment he asked me if I knew how much an oxytocin 80 goes for in the north. I said no and he said 300 a pill. Why he told me that I can’ only assume. After my operation I tried to stop the OxyContin and realized I was addicted. Toppin refused to admit I was addicted and told me to go to the smith clinic for he help. Lost and not knowing what to do I turned to the oat for help. I was prescribed 160 mg of OxyContin a day for 4 years by toppin. Once off the OxyContin I asked Toppin why he prescribed me this medication he said he once had a patient he refused to give pain medication to and they contacted the college of physicians and was threatened with a lawsuit for sending the patient away in pain. From then on he opened the flood gate and started prescribing pain medication to patients in fear of lawsuits. My life was turned upside down because of this decision and I realized he was more concerned about being sued then the well being of his patients. He was covering his own as rather than being concerned about my wellbeing. I never returned.

Dr. Toppin has been my doctor since 1994, that’s a long time… He’s been there since my first pregnancy. I have always been able to confined in him, Dr. Toppin listened. Always felt I had enough time when seeing him, he was always straight forward, which is good I’ve thought. He has always gone above and beyond. I’m saddened that he is closing his practice, heartbroken because I feel like I’m loosing family. Dr. Toppin and Maureen have been the best. I don’t know if I’ll ever find another team like them.

Dr Toppin is the best dr I have ever had. He has gone to bat for me and gets things done when they need to be done! I sure hope he stays in practice for many many more years cause I don’t know what I would do without him!! Maureen is also wonderful!

I don't usually do things like this but recently have been extra impressed. Maureen and Dr. Toppin havealways been excellent but recently both my husband and I have been dealing with some issues and he called us both at home to make sure we were doing ok! I have never experienced this with any other Docs. Both #1 in my book!

I too will be devastated when this doctor retires. Has been my physician for over 20 years. His assistant has been with him the whole time so that shows you how good he must be to work for. Maureen you are a true professional. Thank you dr. Toppin.

Dr. Toppin saved the life of my son in 1987 in a small northern community. My wife was in the delivery room when the head nurse insisted on Dr. Toppin's opinion. The other doctor was insistent on breaking my wife's water. Dr. Toppin examined my wife and informed me the cord was around our son's neck. He ordered a medivac to T-Bay. My son spent 3 weeks in intensive care and is alive today. Dr Toppin is truly a brilliant physician. He has diagnosed me correctly on several occaissions over the years. Consider yourself very fortunate if he is your doctor. His receptionist Maureen has always been very curtious and proffessional.
