I've been to Dr Newman for a few years now. In the past, I had doctors who didn't listen or doctors who got angry if I only took pain meds when I needed them instead of all the time. Dr. Newman treats me with respect and uses different types of treatment to meet the type of pain I am having. If something doesn't work, he always has an alternative to try. Yes, he can't fix everything like when I had to have back surgery but he has over the years helped me control the pain for that and other areas which is what I need him for! Always have time even to just talk while I'm getting a procedure done. I definitely won't go back to my old pain management doctor. Dr Newman has helped my pain the most of any doctor I have seen.

I recently saw Dr. Newman for my low back pain. Not only did he go over my x-ray with me, but he made sure that I understood everything. He discussed options that would work for me, and broke down each one. He took his time to make sure I understood each procedure, and we came up with a plan for my treatment. His office staff is kind and courteous. I don't think I have been in a doctors office and received that much respect from office staff. The young lady at the front desk answered all of my questions, and her yes and no answers was always followed up by "ma'am." That is something you don't see nowadays, and it was refreshing. The other lady that works with Dr. Newman is wonderful as well, and is extremely polite. Getting a follow-up appointment was a breeze, and she was able to work with my hectic schedule. Not a lot of offices do that, it's usually you get what you get and that's it... this is absolutely not the case at Dr. Newman's office. At this office, I feel as if I am actually listened to. I will definitely recommend this office to friends.

I went to Dr. Newman for shoulder pain. During my office visit he listened to what I had to say, and then performed his initial evaluation, and discovered I would require an injection in my shoulder. Dr. Newman is very good at what he does, and I left there with little to no pain. His staff is wonderful. Always smiling and upbeat. I am greeted as soon as I walk in the door, which is very heartwarming. His office staff works hard to get things approved, whether it be medications or injections. I

Dr.newman has treated me for several years he listens to you what you say then explain your options my husband has been going to him for a long time he is a wonderful Doctor and I value his opinion. The office staff is wonderful i have never had to wait for my appointment for longer than fifteen minutes an that in its self is a great accomplishment i would recommend Dr. Mark Newman to anyone that has issues with pain

I was told I failed a urine test that there was cocaine in my system. I am 63 years old and do not do illegal drugs. What was so bad is he said the test was from April and this is July that he told me 3 months later. First off I did not even have a urine test in April. That particular day he had another man with him during my visit. If I failed I should have been notified immediately so I could go across the street to Sentara and have another test done to prove this was wrong. He does not care about your pain, I have asked him several times for an MRI which he has never ordered. Also during my last visit I watched the receptionist sit my urine test to the side and she put another bottle there.

Dr. Newman is arrogant, cocky and unprofessional In every way. Never asks how you are? Doesn't want to discuss alternate treatments. It is his way or no way. Never viewed my patient records before seeing me, admittedly. His staff is excellent.

I've been a patient of Dr. Newman for well over 10 years now. He is amazing. I absoutly don't know where I'd be without him. I have a pretty complicated situation with many allergies to pain medications and suffering from chronic pain in addition to a sezier disorder. Dr. Newman has worked with me thru the years adjusting my medications as needed. He always communicates with me in detail. Just because I've been his patient forever, he never misses a step. He always gives me a complete exam an evaluation. I hate that he's no longer in private practice, but it hasn't changed a thing really...he has the same staff that he's had for years and he is still the kind compassionate doctor that I began seeing many years ago. Be fairly warned he's no drug addicts resouce. If your truly in pain and need pain management he's your guy. If your addicted or a drug abuser he can spot you a mile away. I respect him for this. Dr. Newman is a wonderful pain management doctor and comes with my highest recomendation.
