Dr Dawes has been my doctor for decades and he has been great! (He has been the family doctor for several family members as well, and they, too, have found him to be a wonderful doctor.) I find him to be very approachable, and very willing to listen to my concerns ... and take them seriously. He has never rushed me out of his office if a few extra minutes are required - he focuses on me and my concerns. I find him to be very knowledgeable, and he considers all aspects of my health when dealing with me.
I truly admire the work he continues to do to put rural medicine on the government’s radar - we need doctors such as Dr Dawes who fight for services and to bring “health awareness” to our smaller communities.
I shall miss him upon his retirement ... he has “set the bar high” for my next doctor.

Was kind and helpful when we had a family member gravely ill, who eventually passed. Wonderful staff at the Barry's Bay Hospital as well.

I have only ever had one bad experience out of 25 years of great and it had nothing to do with him but with scheduling. He has always been approachable and understanding regarding any health concern whether it be small or big.

I have been a patient of Dr. Dawes for two decades and have ALWAYS found him to be patient, empathetic, knowledgeable, and very approachable. I am very fortunate to have him as part of my personal "health-care team." Dr. Dawes' commitment to his patients and to our local area are commendable -- he fights strongly for "rural health care" and thanks to his efforts, we have made remarkable progress. When he has been late to meet his appointments,it's due to being "on-call" in the Emergency Dept. I am very willing to be "second" to someone who needs emergency care -- some day, it could be a member of my family or me in the Emergency Room. In a small community such as Barry's Bay, we are very fortunate to have doctors who are committed to serving our area -- which is the case with all of our local physicians. As Dr. Dawes moves toward his retirement, I can only hope that I will find someone with his skill and commitment to support me with my health-care needs.

One of the best doctors in the area. Takes time to listen. You always leave his office with all the answers to your questions. Keep up the good work Dr. Dawes. Barry's Bay is lucky to have you.

He is an excellent doctor, and I just wanted to add that systemic candidiasis does not exist, unless you have no immune system like a patient dying from AIDS. Anyone that gives you that diagnosis is lying and stealing your money. I have watched a real AIDS patient die with "systemic candidiasis" or what is really blood poisoning by yeast, and trust me, if you are walking and talking you don't have it.

The best doc you could ever ask to have. He is compassionate and kind, and knows his stuff. I can't imagine how anyone could find him any other way.

Looks like some nasty people in small town Barrys Bay have nothing better to do than knock down a local doctor. Well, I have another perspective: Dr. Dawes addressed 5,000 people in Fort Erie last fall in a plea to save small town hospitals. His was the best speech given, knowledgeable and impassioned. You are lucky to have such a man in your midst.

He was my mother's doctor and the worst doctor I have ever encountered in my entire life. Without further details he contributed to her death by not taking her condition seriously when she was a very ill patient. He should resign b/c even with our dire doctor shortage I would never consent to his care and services if I need to be treated by a physician!!!
