I am convinced that all of those 1 star ratings are the ravings of one person who has created various emails for the purpose. I have been seeing Dr. Brandeis for 18 years, and she is wonderful. The wait is long, but that is what happens with a doctor in demand.

I have been a patient of Dr. Brandeis for over 12 years. I have experienced the same issues. Firstly the longest waiting time (every time) of any doctor I have gone to visit - the usual wait time is about 1 1/2-2 hours each visit. However to be fair, my last visit in 2017 was just over an hour. She does not take time to really listen to what is wrong and proceeds to diagnose you then does a round about way of scheduling tests to find out if she is "right." She is rude and flippant and I always leave with why do I continue to come to this office
The waiting room is cramped and seats uncomfortable and considering how long you wait this makes it even worse.. The and the overall office and examination rooms need to be redone, cleaned and updated. The nurse staff are very courteous. The "reception" staff act annoyed if you ask a question. Once the results of these final tests are done, will find a new doctor - this will be priority.

If I could give negative stars, as Marcie C wrote in her review, I would do the same. I was Dr. Brandaeis for a few years up to March 6, 2014. I had always negative feeling about her not caring about patients, just money, but I was little bit lazy to change her. I would always wait for about 1 hour and half in the waiting area and than additional at least half hour in the room. The long wait was to much for her examination that lasted less than 5 minutes. But I guess that she need to calculate out wait time in her pricing to justify too expensive visit. I had annual checkup ( preventive) on February 26, 2014. Everything was OK, I was told, just to continue to do what I was doing, exercising. As direct result of this visit and her "gentle" examination I had to go back as she caused some bleeding. I was back to her office on March 6, 2014. Usual wait of 2 hours and examination of 5 minutes. Everything was OK but I had to do sonogram (not there) and sonogram was good.
At that time I had Horizon Blue Cross Shield of New Jerrsey and when I asked do they accept this insurance they said yes. Guess what? She was not listed by my insurance and as you could imagine I ended billed for double than what she would get from insurance. My bill was for more than $ 1,000.00. I tried for more than year to negotiate and to get rid of some of her charges (like instead of 2 office visit of $ 250.00 just one as second was result of her examination). I was not able to talk to her directly and this was always done through her billing services. They only agree to make a plan and to pay $ 50.00 monthly to avoid being sent to collections. Yesterday (September 22, 2015) I went to pay my monthly payment and finally I saw Dr. Brandeis. I complained about her billing, she went to her office to check her notes and returned with more embarrassing explanation I have ever heard. First she said that her charges for annual were bellow her $ 350.00 ( like what do I complain about when we have even under billing here) . Also she said that during my first visit that I had several issues. I said what issues as I was not aware of any, and have never been informed about any of these "issues" and that If I had any I was not on any treatment. She said not issues but Diagnosis? What diagnosis, I asked. She said "osteopenia". By the way my osteopenia was discovered, 4..5 years ago, during bone density test and was diagnosed by dr reading the test nor by Dr. Brandaeis. I was shocked when Brandais said that she diagnosed me with osteopenia. And I, in shock, asked what was my treatment when she said additional embarrassing staff. My treatment was that she recommended exercises. I said that I'm not running out of my obligations but this was not fair, explanation given is not professional and she just lost a patient. She said it is what it is and she needs to pay her staff. She does' t care, I know. She cares only about money. Embarrassig for her profession and I hope that somebody will read these reviews and should not take a chance and choose her as a doctor.

ORRIBLE experience. She takes every question you ask as an opportunity to belittle you. And then she gives the shortest answers she can or tells you to just read the pamphlet when you leave.
After waiting over 2 hours I received no apology and then she actually threatened to not read my chart since I hate waiting so much! And she didn't read it!! She had no idea why I was there, even though her office called ME!
After a painful pap smear exam I bled and had cramps for 7 days after.
My first visit she pushed for me to switch from the pill to IUD and I said I'll think about it. This appointment I enquired about it and she said it was a horrible idea --but it was her suggestion in the first place!!. (I only went back to her because I had to cancel an appt with a new doctor and she was only one I could see close to work on short notice. My first appt I waited a little over an hour)
She insisted I get surgery to remove a benign cyst and visibly got annoyed when I asked more questions about the surgery and my options.
When she told me I could get dressed and as I started to, she widely opened the door while I was naked so anyone there could see me naked.
This appointment was 3 weeks ago and today I get a voicemail from the desk asking me to call back immediately. I call back within 2 minutes of the missed call and she stepped away from her desk and never called me back. Thank you for sounding urgent with no comment on what it regards to and then leave me wondering over the weekend.
I am truly amazed she still has a practice with the way she treats her patients. I related to so many of the yelp reviewers. Wish I'd read those first.

First off, I've only seen her twice and have waited 2-3 hours both times. The staff at the reception desk is professional when you are speaking with them but the whole waiting lounge can hear their unprofessional loud discussions. I thought about mentioning it but then there were a ton of other things that took priority.

My first appointment was ok, other than the wait time which really turned me off. I was diagnosed with HPV and we scheduled a colposcopy and biopsy for the following appointment, 2 weeks later. I gave her the benefit of the doubt for the 3 hour wait because she said she was in a procedure and got backed up. (In the waiting room, I heard a woman scream "Oh shit!" which worried me a bit but also explained the wait.

Appointment 2: I waited two hours to be seen. During the 45 minutes of waiting in the cold exam room with a paper draped over my lap, I became increasingly frustrated. I'm a young healthy woman and this was my first biopsy. I was nervous and the wait time really added to my frustrations. When the doctor came into the room, she did not apologize for the wait. She jumped on the computer and asked me if I've ever had an abnormal pap smear. Really?? I responded by saying, "Isn't all of this information in the computer from our initial appointment 2 weeks ago? I am here for a biopsy." She said, "I was just asking a question." I explained how bothered I was with waiting for so long. She said "That just shows the care I give to my patients." I was feeling ruthless and questioned if she is overbooked or perhaps it wasn't right for her to accept new patients at this time. I know that was ballsy of me, but come on. I wanted to know. She said, "I will be the one who decides that. I have bills to pay. I am here until 10 pm with my patients." I told her that was too much information for me and it is her decision to be here until that late. We went back and forth a bit. I told her I was just expressing my concerns based on the only two experiences I've had in her office and maybe she doesn't care about her patients opinions since she kept dismissing mine. She said she does care about her patients opinions and she has been doing this for a very long time. Tensions were high.

She did not explain the procedure well. She asked if I had questions before starting and I listed off a few. She answered them. While she was doing the biopsy, she discussed the leaky faucet with her assistant and how expensive it will be to get fixed, $300. Afterwards, her assistant handed me a sanitary pad and a piece of paper with some things to expect the following week. There was no verbal discussion of what the paper said or the need for the pad. Dr. Brandeis said she had a solution for my "problem." She told me to book my appointment first thing in the morning so I can be seen sooner. I explained that I work at night and did not get to sleep until 9am this morning. (I'm a nurse and work 7pm-7am). I asked if I should have scheduled an appointment for 4:30pm instead of our 3pm time due to the wait time. She repeated that she works late, has bills to pay, and added that she just had back surgery. I told her again this was too much personal information that I really did not want to know. She told me "Just forget I said it, then!" We were both extremely frustrated with each other, that was clear.

Her body language kept motioning to the door and I told her I had questions about what to expect going forward and after I get results. She kept saying that she can't tell anything from what we did today other than I am very inflamed due to the virus. I explained my nerves and frustrations to getting a biopsy and not knowing whether I have something precancerous or not. She told me, "You're not going to die tomorrow." She dismissed by concerns constantly. I told her she keeps darting for the door and I don't know what to expect going forward. She then said, "Excuse me, I have a mother." And I said, "What are you implying by mentioning that??" She said, "You keep telling me I'm trying to run out the door." After explaining again, that I wanted more information, she drew me a diagram of my lovely inflamed cervix. She said "Who knows, maybe the biopsy will come back clear and then you can go have a drink for the both of us." I couldn't believe her. I asked if I could just phone in for the results to save us both time if I give written consent to receive the information this way. She said they don't do things like that. She suggested that after I come back for the results of the biopsy I can find myself a new doctor if that's what I want. I suppose she's in these situations quite often to suggest such a quick fix.

Thank you everyone for posting a review. I will be sure to use this website when looking for my next doctor. Choosing a good doctor is something that should be researched and not rushed. I've learned a lesson!

Avoid this insensitive witch at all cost. I was her patient for approximately 10 years. It was never a problem because I only saw her for yearly routines. Until a problem surfaced and I needed a biopsy. She provided no information on the procedure. She just proceeded to do it and it was extremely painful. Imagine pieces of tissue sniped from the walls of your female parts without any anesthesia. All she would do was scold me and demand that I remain still.

I did some research and found that I could have had local anesthesia for this procedure. But she never made it available. I strongly believe that she gets a thrill at seeing women agonize in pain. Now I know why on several occasions I heard women screaming while waiting to see her.

I went to see her one more time after the biopsy just to get the results. I knew when I walked out that day that I would never return. I asked for my medical records and was told that I needed to request them in writing. Shortly after, I mailed the request for my medical records. I received a call asking me to pay 75 cents per page for the records. This seemed absurd since I see many specialist, in addition to my primary, and I receive copies without cost. And I also receive follow-up e-mails and phone calls without having to request them and much less pay for them, something she NEVER does. I went ahead and sent in a check to cover the cost of 22 pages because it was very important that I receive those records so that I could provide them to the new gynecologist I was going to get. Besides the lab results, I was able to see the many nasty remarks she scribbled on the pages about me. She's such a hippocrate.

She's a witch in need of a broom so that she can fly off into hell. If a zero star rating were available, that's just what I would give her.

Oh, I forgot to mention. She consistently overbooks patients, so that you end up waiting for hours to be seen. At one of my appointments I waited 4, yes 4, hours to be seen. It appears she's trying to make-up for those patients she's lost by overbooking new and unsuspecting victims

The Doctor of these descriptions is not the intelligent, empathetic, caring, conservative and highly professional woman whom I went to with terrible perimenopausal symptoms. She is easily the finest OBGYN I have ever seen and she works carefully, but with the quickness and gentleness that comes from experience and compassion. I have already recommended Dr. Brandeis to several women suffering from mild to severely life-crippling symptoms, and each has thanked me profusely for recommending Dr. Brandeis.

DO NOT GO SEE THIS DOCTOR. I was experiencing abnormally heavy periods, which she told me was probably just because I'm "getting older" (I'm 33). When I pressed her she sent me for an ultrasound, but said everything looked fine when she got the results. 6 months later my periods were even worse, to the point where I was so anemic I needed a blood transfusion, and the new doctor I saw recognized immediately there was problem and found a large fibroid which she said had to have been growing for a very long time. I now have to go through induced menopause before I can have surgery, which would not have happened if Dr. Brandeis had taken me seriously. Rude, doesn't listen, THE WORST.

Dr. Brandeis caused me the most horrific experience of my life. I went in for a LEEP procedure, she told me it would be painless and take 5-10 minutes. THe local anaesthesia did not work and yet she continued to electrocute and cauterize my vagina for 2 hours. I had many serious complications after that and after seeing many different urologists and other gynecologists it was discovered that she cauterized my ureter. I spent months in the hospital, had a nephrostomy tube for 2 months while waiting to have a major corrective surgery. I also contracted a blood infection from which I almost died. She is the cruelest most unprofessional doctor or person period I have ever encountered. During the botched surgery she yelled at me to "shut up and stop acting like a child," she never called me or came to see me while I was hospitalized due to her errors. This past fall I just won a major malpractice suit against her because that type of error is UNHEARD of. She is a ****, STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

The worst doctor I have ever been to. How is she still practicing??? She had no emotion and was completely cold...I felt very uncomfortable being in her presence. She's a gyno for god's sake! She should really make her patients feel comfortable. I WILL NEVER GO BACK.
