Word of advice:
1) if you experienced severe abuse as a minor and leading into adulthood, you will be labeled with BPD for being sad about it (because chronic sadness does not make sense , to him)
2) if you have a chronic illness that keeps you in bed for months and weeks at a time and feel depressed about it, you will be labeled with BPD (because you’re even more depressed and in bed for months)
He will disregard your health. He will disregard your trauma. And if you try to explain yourself, he will interrupt you and get furious.
On top of it, if you disagree, he will laugh and keep telling you “I hope you’re doing great! I hope you’re happy!” Repeatedly as you try to say bye, so you’ll have to hang up.
No trauma survivor, a minor or adult should undergo this, remember it is normal to be sad from experiencing abuse. And it is normal to be even more sad when you’re chronic illness prevents you from leaving the bed or home.
You don’t need to endure more suffering. Go to a psychiatrist that helps and listens, and respects you as a human being ❤️

Dr. Davine, taught me Psychiatry while I was a Family Medicine Resident between 2002-2004. He was one of the highlights of the program at McMaster University. When I read some of the negative reviews I honestly I can't help me wonder if he is being targeted because some patient didn't get what they wanted e.g., meds for pain control, anxiety, insomnia, which are addictive and have abuse potential. Dr. Davine is experienced and he knows whose fishing for these highly sought out meds. My guess is that he didn't think the patient met the diagnostic criteria and wanted to get to know the patient more before prescribing these meds. The patient also may not tried other meds that had less or no abuse potential first which is the appropriate course of action.

Dr. Davine an extremely knowledgeable Psychiatrist who did a fantastic job teaching me and many other residents. If I had to see a Psychiatrist I would look out for Dr. Davine. He's worth the wait.

Totally misinformed about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Tries to tell patients it's somatoform or "caused by stress" and that there's no biological cause. Doesn't know any of the increasing research that says it's often triggered by infection, there are often genetic susceptibility, with research showing inflammation in the brain, gut, and mitochondria dysfunction so really low energy. Can't stand doctors like this who don't know their medicine but try to tell patients they are right

While I remained open minded to the possibility that Dr. Jon Davine could have some veracity in the format of collecting information to serve a generalized file that may be distributed to other practitioners, The manner of conduct of the interview and inability to digest simple and repeated answers is unprofessional and willfully ignorant, all the while implying that the time to collect information is short as the be all and end all excuse. Multiple times I have answered questions that he has ignored or cut off and at no point did I not outline answer in any way that could not be easily digestible for him and understand.
I wouldn’t be too bent out of shape if interrupting me served a purpose, but It never did. He instead would often interrupted me before even a full consonant value of my voice; clearly projected and not mumbled, to answer the question he asked. After this happened multiple times he would then claim that I wasn't communicating in some way and that I should reply to his questions.
This man Is without a stretch the living definition of the Rorschach test. A test designed to reveal the instability in patients that instead serves better as a test of the instabilities of the practitioner. This guy has some serious pathologically apparent narcissistic as well as instinctive predilections and precepts that mitigate away his ability to take in information.
I can tell that and I can say I honesty participated in the interview on the faintest of hopes that perhaps someone, maybe this man may be able to help me.

This doctor is very "by the book". Does not allow for any subjectivity. I have been worried that I have ADHD and he decided to shrug off of my concerns based on two questions that he asked. He is overwhelming and makes me feel judged every time I see him. Do not see this doctor if you do not have to. This doctor is a robot and is not helpful at all.

I really wish I had taped my interaction with Mr. Davine. He had no real memory from one answer to the next. His only interest was to fill in a checklist and wasn't interested in what I was saying. I had to interrupt him a couple of times to let me actually finish my thought. He didn't seem to care what I was saying. It was almost like he was trying to check boxes until he could bill another hour.

This doctor made me so extremely overwhelmed and I was crying from the stress within five minutes of our session, and I don’t even have anxiety. My mind was all over the place trying to answer his fast pace questions. He missed key information about my experiences because I didnt get a chance to explain my thoughts before he asked the next question. He felt like a robot, question after question, not looking up or pausing to think. It seemed like he just needed to get through the questions in order to push me out of the office and wasn’t actually listening to my answers. In the end he said he’d set me up with a counsellor (thank god) because he didn’t see any major stress or reasons for my feelings?? Kind of made me feel like my emotions and problems weren’t enough for him. Thankful I hopefully don’t have to see him again, he seemed angry and frustrated at everything I said. After our session I wanted to go home, eat as much food as I could, and crawl into my bed. So unhappy with my experience.

This man is so rude and very impatient.. Lacks any sort of empathy or compassion.. He asks questions and wants an immediate response when you suffer from illnesses that impact your cognitive abilites it takes time to form answers... He took answers and twisted and bent it to from what was his preconceived idea of what illness I had... He was very interogative in his approach to the assessment he did.. He needs to work for a detective firm and not in mental health... I hope and pray i never see this man again!!!

Very opinionated and is always right, loves to hear himself talk, doesn't listen to you, instead he questions you very basically and then tells you what's best for you without any explanation why.
