My daughter received devastating, life-changing news and he was curt and insensitive. I would absolutely not recommended him.

I had a horrible experience with the Dr in Vernon, and decided to go to my home town Ophthalmologist, Dr Hopp. I've heard he has no bedside manners but I know I'd seen him years ago, and he couldn't be worse than the Vernon Ophthalmologist; I know I'd never left Dr Hopp's office feeling the way I felt leaving the Vernon office. Dr Hopp's staff accommodated me very quickly and when I went for my lazer eye surgery (complications from being diabetic for over 20 years) Dr Hopp was amazing. I was scared and in pain and he was so encouraging; more than I ever expected. I left feeling confident and well cared for. That's all I could ask for.

My husband has been a few times and the staff is the worst and rudest staff I have ever seen anywhere, let alone in the medical field. They are overworked, rude, and unfriendly. Almost everyone in the office treats people as if they are stupid. I have seen the receptionist get angry with elderly people with hearing problems, as if their hearing difficulties are designed to make her life more difficult.
Dr. Hopp is an extremely proficient surgeon. But do not expect anything more from him. My husband has had eye issues his whole life and occasionally gets bleeds in his eyes that cause blindness. Last time this happened Hopp didn't want him to travel or do anything, he tried to convince us to cancel our tickets to Europe. This time he acted like my husband was overreacting and shouldn't bother being worried if he goes blind again. He refuses to give any advice on future prevention, or even if this can be expected to continue. My husband tried to explain he has had a headache for 6 months straight, Dr. Hopp cut him off and told him to come back in 6 months. Since my husband was completely blind for 2 years at one point, and is always in danger of having that happen again, Dr. Hopp needs to consider that part of his medical history. ALL the other Dr's who have been involved when my husband goes blind are concerned. His GP, the ER Drs, other eye drs, specialists. EVERYONE.
He may be knowedgeable, but it's difficult to tell since he refuses to impart any of that knowledge to his patients.
We will be travelling hundreds of kilometres rather than go to him even in an emergency situation.

Had he been available when he was supposed to have been, I would not have lost the vision in my eye. Time matters. On call means on call. Oh well. Karma will prevail.

I was given a choice of two doctors to perform my cataract surgery, so I asked my optometrist which he would choose and he said Dr. Hopp. When you first walk into his office it is a bit overwhelming with so many patients there but it is very efficiently run and a very short wait time. The staff were friendly and the doctor is extremely competent at what he does. The surgery went well and the doctor's follow up was amazing. If my other eye needs surgery, then I hope Dr. Hopp is still there for me.

I have been going to Dr Hopp for eight years. Dr. Hopp has been there for me and given me the help I have needed. I feel so welcome in his office. His staff are wonderful and I feel like they are my friends. Everyone is professional but with a warmth that makes one feel comfortable and welcome. To me when one is losing their sight or one is needing some help with their sight, the right atmosphere makes the visit and procedures easier.

some people need to get a life. This Dr. and his staff are accommodating a lot of patients and do that in a timely manner. I had my cataract surgery within 2 months of my referral visit. I am now waiting for my second surgery. The staff seem to answer your mood with the same mood. Try lightening up a bit people.

Front end reception that we dealt with was rude, over taxed, too many patients and over booked, there was little information regarding what follow-up might be or next appt. the recp't was angry that the hospital sent patients back to her and took it out on my husband. Took over 4 weeks to hear about the follow up appt from the dye injection, then received a business card in the mail with zero information, but a booked apt at the end of Aug making it 4 1/2 months from the dye injection! What good would that be? Yes, Dr Hopp is supposed to be the best but overbooking, rude receptionist isn't fair for any patient, young or old. Hate going there!
