Self-verified patient of Dr. Joaquin J Aristimuno - Posted on November 27th, 2020
Worst physician I ever encountered in my life! The first time I saw him was s/p severe MVA and I had herniated almost every disc in my spine. I was crying in pain and when he entered the room he asked me if I was faking it! The second time I saw him, I had had ascites, which is accumulation of fluid in your peritoneal space maybe due to cancer. He started yelling at me, "you have a fat stomach, a chunky fat stomach," and repeated it over and over at me. I am not fat, but a woman's size 6. I also was telling him about an infected ulcer on my right lower leg that was there for 3 months despite 2 courses of antibiotics. I told him that I had had a phlebectomy in that leg, so I did not have much circulation. Again in an angry tone, he yelled at me, "if you are worried about your circulation then stop smoking!" I left the office crying!

Dr. Aristimuno is a welcoming, attentive and capable internist, however, his support staff is a disaster. They are unprofessional, discourteous and negligent, not returning calls properly, and unable to even state my name correctly after several corrections. I had a test for an infection and was not notified of the result until I had a physical nearly a month later. When I was advised by my insurance company to request a recoding of an insurance claim, a fellow in their office accused me of pressuring him to violate regulations. When I wrote Dr. Aristimuno a letter thanking him for his care, but pointing our these problems, I never received a response of any kind. Apparently, I was put on a "black list," because they refused to renew prescriptions and I was forced to find a new internist. Sarasota Medical center is a "patient mill," and I would steer clear.

Impossible to schedule appointments with Sarasota Medical Center, seems to be a walk in clinic only. I tried for a week to reach a person to schedule with and never had success.

Dr. Art and his partner are excellant. They are very thorough in discussing medical concerns during EVERY appt. They never make you feel rushed either. I have had a lot of very major issues, and they work great with other specialists. They refer you out for issues when needed quickly also. The nurses are very professional and nice also. The office staff is also very helpful and quick to respond. Great docs

We are snowbirds who needed to see a physician. After doing our homework on several MD review sites, we chose to see Doctor Mason (first visit) and Doctor Aristimuno (follow-up visit). Excellent choice! As others have mentioned, the staff is amazingly friendly and efficient—other than one unsmiling assistant who takes vitals, but we did mention this to the doctor, so hopefully the office will soon be 100% friendly! The wait time was quick, the doctor was attentive, the checkout is a precision machine in action. Very happy (and fortunate) with our choice.
