Dr. Houghton is a very knowledgeable and helpful doctor who truly cares. Where possible he takes a wholistic approach. The only negative is he is extremely busy, so the wait times are long, and it is often difficult to secure an appointment. He office if beautiful and parking is plentiful, and he and his patients would benefit from having another doctor join his practice.

Books telephone appointments months in advance, just to not actually call for the appointment, twice now!! On the third time, he called almost 20 minutes late, while I was quickly dropping my kid off at hockey, then when I call back 3 minutes later, doesn't answer, then sends me a letter the next day, discharging me as a patient. Always a bad experience and always terrible staff

He has caused so many problems for me and my mental health. The biggest thing being that he would give me a prescription and never send it out so i would constantly run out of medication.

I have seen him 'in person' and also 'by telephone'.
My family doctor decided to leave Nanaimo leaving me in the lurch in the middle of a pandemic. I was so happy when I found another doctor that had a opening for me. This doctor gets REALLY ANGRY at innocent remarks... to avoid his anger I do not ask many questions and only get my medications renewed by him.

Laziest doctor in town. Totally unreliable. My daughter has a severe eating disorder and we need a referral to get into a support program. HE said he'd write one for us. 7 weeks ago. Nothing. 100% POS

Things have changed for the worse at this clinic. The lone receptionist is overworked , takes forever to get appointments , when you do get there the doctor is very rushed , dismissive and downright rude , speaking over you. You can wait 6 weeks for an appointment , and get cut off and rushed out of there by the doc. 2 mins apparently is time well spent talking about the weather but not your life threatening illness. Last appointment waited 5 weeks for and couldn't discuss a major problem after only 6 minutes. Timed it on my phone. Thx doc

Dr. Houghton is a wonderful physician and I am grateful for his thoroughness and expertise. He is honest and kind. It is nice to have a caring, holistic-minded doctor.

Used to be a great family doctor with great care to any issue or worry. Something must be happening, maybe in his personal life, as now he, basically, has become a prescription renewal service. Very sad.

This man will let you suffer while he misdiagnosis you. Doesn't listen to what is actually going on. His staff at the front are a minis to society. This Doctor is beyond incompetent, he and his staff are dangerous. I used the online medical doctors that now thankfully exist, to get my health back in check. Do yourself a favor and keep safe and out of this horrific clinic.

Waited for calls he never makes. Messages never seem to get to him. Paperwork doesn't show up when requested. Wish he would get it together and follow through.
