He helped me so much. Changed my life in fact. Very kind and patient. Really took his time to figure out my problems and didn’t rush my visits. Worth the wait.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar Type 2 by this doctor who put me on Lamotrigine which I had been taking for the past 6 years. Moved to a different province for personal reasons and now I’ve learnt that I am not Bipolar nor do I need any kinds of prescription medication. I have Celiac Disease which was something that could have easily been tested for and the gluten free diet is the only treatment I needed. What a waste of thousands of dollars on medications that probably have only done more harm to my body than good. You should run blood tests to rule out Celiac and vitamin/mineral deficiencies before diagnosing patients with mental illnesses they don’t actually have.

I can't rate this doctor, beyond the arrogant, assumptive diagnosis he made to dismiss my case, and justify not taking me on as a patient, (I never actually saw him. His wife is also a physician, (a very good GP), and after struggling for months to help me with the titration of my ADHD medications, she said she'd try to get me an appointment with her husband. Her arrogant husband looked at my medical record, awash with mis-diagnosees from a slew of, ( mainly) shrinks that were a near lethal combination of incompetent and/or indifferent, and he decided that because I'm a fast metabolizer, and conventional doses of ADHD drugs weren't adequate to treate my ADHD, that I was obviously a drug addict, (having never so much as tried marijuana), and an "inappropriate referral". I had waited months for this appointment, was failing out of school, and had even given up my spot on a wait list with another clinic, thinking I was soon to see him. When he made his criminally negligent diagnosis, and tossed my case, i had to return to western Canada for 1.5 yrs, under less than ideal circumstances, delaying my university studies by that amount of time. After returning to Toronto, I got into an ADHD doctor who has changed my life, and given me a future i can look forward to. Dr Szpindel's dismissive assumptions, ( if that's what they were- perhaps he realized he didn't have the expertise to handle a complicated case of ADHD), embody everything that is wrong with Canada's mental health care system; if you have no idea what you're doing, slap a label on the patient, and/or pretend it's their fault.

I have been seeing Dr. Szpindel for six years. He is a little abrupt, but extremely intelligent and thorough. I think the best thing about him is that he is always on my side. His recommendations have helped me not only deal with my ADHD and learning disability, but prosper. I am very happy to have him as my neurologist.

Dr Szpindle was so helpful to me. I have been to so many doctors about my problems and have been on so many pills that only worked for a few months and then stopped working. I lost hope that I would ever get better. My doctor sent me to Dr. Szpindel. He took the time to listen to me. He was very thorough and really considered all the information I showed him and all the medications that I tried in the past. After several visits he explained my diagnosis and why my problems with concentration were not getting better with the other medications. He made me understand all the different things that could cause attention problems and most importantly he put me on medication that made me function much better. he also spent the time to showme strategies to help with my stress and concentration. I found him very caring and dedicated to helping me.Thanks you doctor szpindle!!

Honestly, I didn’t want to write this review, but I want to warn others so they don’t waste their time like I did. The ADHD referall process can take a long time, so make sure you see a real specialist who actually cares about what you say.. The below review from 4/30/12 is exactly what happened to me as well.. I went to him for 8 appointments and all he would do is review and take notes on the report cards and adhd assessments (from when I was younger) that I brought him and I would surf my phone the entire appointment because he wouldn’t say a word to me.. The appointments are supposed to be an hour long and sometimes he would end it after 20 minutes.. It seems as though he’s just trying to fill the appointments to make money.. After the 8 appointments he tells me I don’t have adhd and refers me to someone else.. I then go to that doctor who tells me that he thinks I have adhd and not the mood disorder that Dr. Szpindel says I have.. What a complete waste of time..

This is the worst doctor I have ever experienced in my life. I am very familiar with Doctors being that my Father is one. He is atrocious and a inconsiderate child immature individual. Stay away from him, does nothing but try to push pills down your mouth. I can almost guarantee that if you are diagnosed with anxiety or ADHD stay away from him as he will only make it worse. The patients never come first, you are just business to him. He is the equivalent of what clowns are to the circus. He is never around when you need him. The response time for appointments and schedules is undeniably the worst in any scheduled format settings. I will pay you not to see him. I care for those requiring these kind of services and he will MAKE IT WORSE. Good luck and god bless! Szpindel you suck!!

I was referred to Dr Szpindel for an adult ADHD assessment. After waiting 2 months for my first appt - 2 hours wasted on completing scales I could have done at home - it took FIVE subsequent appointments (spaced at least 2 weeks apart each) for him to give me an INKLING that he thought I might not have ADHD. At which point he wanted to refer me to someone else. WASTE. OF. MY. TIME. He barely spoke to me during our consultations, sporadically asking questions while typing on his computer. As requested, I collected my grade-school report cards for him. He skimmed through the 50+ pages WHILE I SAT in his office. And then pushed the stack aside, unimpressed, despite my wealth of academic issues, all consistent with childhood ADHD. He wouldn't speak to my spouse. He dismissed my questions and ignored my concerns. I guess with adult ADHD assessments you get what you pay for. Don't waste your time. Go to a REAL specialist.

Firstly Dr Szpindel is a good and informative doctor. He takes time to give you a diagnosis but he is accurate and helpful. The bad part is the clinic itself (now Appletree Medical Group). The wait times are ridiculous (about 1.5 to 2 months for an appointment). If you have a serious problem/issue, then don't bother going to this clinic. The staff do not give you an appointment with Dr Szpindel even during emergencies?? I had a breakdown, ran out of my medication and despite that I was told the next appointment I could get was 2 months away. They absolutely refused to even talk to the doctor (despite the fact he had mentioned I could get earlier/priority appointments). As mental health emergencies can be severe and frequent, I would strongly advice against going here as quality of care is poor to non existent. The best part is they continue to accept new patients and add to wait times.
