Dr Stilphen is kind and competent in helping me manage my diabetes. He took me through an awful bronchitis with special care.

this Dr. is an outstanding example of how medical reporting has turned physicians into reporters first and the attention to the patient last . He spends my time with him entering my vitals and reports into the computer and almost no attention to me. I waited 3 months to get my last appointment, which was supposed to be a physical, but he put that off for another 2 months.
If you have to drive 100 miles to find a good primary care physician...do it!

From my first visit to Dr. Stilphen, I felt like I was talking to the side of his head as he faced his computer, not me the patient, for most of the office visit. He spent a good part of the time mumbling to the computer instead of talking to me and getting to know his patient. As a new patient with 25 years with another local Doctor who retired, Dr. Stilphen seemed like he could care less about understanding my medical history with the previous doctor. I almost felt like Dr. Stilphen was just "putting in his time" with the patient so he could justify the fee charged. I will not be specific with my own health issues but I felt when he apparently missed one very important issue, he responded in a manner that was demeaning to me, the patient, and totally unresponsive to my concerns. Finally, when I questioned billing issues from his office a few weeks after the visit, Dr. Stilphen, in no uncertain terms, indicated to me that he no longer wanted to be my Doctor. I was not shocked or surprised at his attitude. If you want a knowledgeable, sympathetic, understanding, alert primary care physician, you would do well to look elsewhere.

I recently lost my primary care doctor due to Obamacare! My new doctor; Dr. Stilphen was patient, thorough and persistent in learning my patient history. He reviewed previous diagnosis such as diabetes and sleep apnea with an effort to see if my current symptoms warrant changes in care and medications. I trust his knowledge and appreciate the possibly of not having to over medicate.

This Dr. is more interested in typing things into his exam room computer than facing his patient and finding out what the health issues and concerns are. He was totally disinterested in my medical history. I found it interesting that another evaluating patient had the same experience with Dr. Stilphen wanting them to receive a whooping cough inoculation. Ditto. I found his level of interest in me to be just about zero and left with the impression that when the 30 minutes could be filled up with useless and confusing conversation, he could justify charging me for the office visit. His office is unapproachable on billing issues, except when it comes to billing mistakes they send to Medicare - then they get very concerned and refund any questionable amounts immediately - perhaps fearful of a Government Audit. My overall opinion is that you would do well to steer clear of the Doctor and medical office.

Rude, arrogant and unwilling to listen to my symptoms. He insisted I get off HRT even though that is impossible (I've tried for 6 years and symptoms that are unrelenting return) and refused to write the appropriate prescriptions. He refused to refer me to a specialist. He said he couldn't tell me what caused my symptoms and refused to believe it was my thyroid--I had to insist on a thyroid test. He didn't listen to me nor was he up to date on his own field of endocrinology and thyroid levels. Older docs coming here to the central coast seem to just want to fill up their pensions and don't care about patients. He was 20 minutes late and kept looking at his watch and at the clock and was extremely impatient with me. And this was our meet and greet. If you have hormone issues, best to try a doctor who understands these are real medical issues, not just something we pretty things make up in our little heads.
