Dr Kolb not only diagnosed my husband's hernia but he arranged it to where we had to bypass the ER and for my husband to go straight to his hospital room. Amazing doctor and we will miss him when he retires.

With attention and skill, during a very routine assessment, Dr. Kolb saved my life by detecting a very large asyptomatic abdominal aneurysm on the verge of rupture, enabling me to quickly arrange successful surgery. Thank you Dr. Kolb.

Dr Kolb saved my mother's life about five years ago. He was there when she arrived at the hospital. After she was admitted, he later came back and ordered her out of the hospital bed into ICU. If he did not, she would have died.

Dr. Kolb is direct and pulls no punches. He is also compassionate and responsive. Most of his practice consists of senior citizens and he may be the closest practioner to a gerontologist in SLO County. I believe he's one of the very few Internists in the County that still manages his own patients in the hospitals. When you're his patient and ned him, he's there for you.

My family has been very pleased with the quality care and great service provided by Dr. Kolb and his staff. Dr. Kolb is a good old fashioned plain spoken Doctor that gives it to you straight and honest.

About a year after my grandmother died he told my grandfather "you know, I'm surprised you're still alive, most people die within a year after their spouse dies". My grandfather was in a profound depression and took this to mean Dr. Kolb expected him to die, sending him deeper into depression. Dr. Kolb also failed to refer my grandmother to a pulmonologist despite advanced emphysema. Now in medical school, I disagree with his treatment plan, I think she would have lived longer if she had been given a different medication regime. He didn't refer her to hospice until she was very advanced, and then had to be convinced. She got almost no care from hospice as a result. I am terribly disappointed with his care and his manner.
