I saw doctor Deshaw when I was first diagnosed with Lyme by my neurologist back in 2009. I complained of 24/7 headaches and joint pain. I felt older then I was. At that time, I visited the emergency room 3 times complaining of head pain and did not know what to do. He put me on 30 day antibiotic pills and later, after a spinal tap, he started me on IV for 6 weeks. When I told him the head pain was coming back, he dismissed it and told me it was due to my arthritis in my neck and prescribed Gabapentine (pain pills), for my nerve pain in my head. He sent me away without further treatment. 9 months later, I saw another doctor who treated me more with 5 months IV. Dr Deshaw allowed me to go 9 months untreated (under pain medication), when he could have avoided the severity of my condition by continued IV to stop the lyme in my head. Now I’m still fighting with lyme pain in the head, because I’ve gone so long with it. He’s not knowledgeable when it comes to sever cases such as mine.

Dr Deshaw was assigned to me in the hospital and was the best doctor I have ever met. Spent time to listen and had a very positive approach to the treatment and my comfort.

I had undiagnosed lyme disease for over 7 years and could barely stand at age 37. Dr. Deshaw was the only doctor that used the Western Blot Test to correctly diagnose me and treat me for LONG-TERM lyme disease (with IV antibiotics). The added bonus is that he specializes in Lyme AND ACCEPTS INSURANCE, which is rare in NJ. Wonderful bedside manner, very calm and caring nature, and listens to his patients. I never rushed through an appointment. Some days you have to wait a while in the waiting room but that is only because he actually spends time with his patients, unlike other doctors. He had no qualms about putting me on an IV treatment for weeks whereas other doctors would not consider it. He knew where to send me for the best brain scan and the group he recommended for my home IV treatment was absolutely wonderful. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO EVERYONE! If you think you may have Lyme see Dr. Deshaw! Other doctors told me I did not have it when I actually did!

Dr. Max is one of the best if not the best doctors that I have had. I suffered celulitus not just once but twice and he saved my legs. His ability to understand what is going on and what course of treatment plans is fantastic. His bedside manner is execptional and calming. I wish all my doctors had the same passion as Dr. Max DeShaw. He is also known around the world as being one of the best in infectious disease.

Dr. DeShaw is one of the best doctors out there. I suffered from a very severe case of lyme disease in the summer of 2006, which was treated, but flared up again in 2007. I had the best treatments the first time, and was incrediby worried that it came back. Dr. Deshaw had all of the knowledge, patience, and professionalism that I could have asked for. He went beyond the call of duty to help me, and did research in his spare time to help me out. I feel great now, and I highly reccommend him to anyone with an advanced case of Lyme disease, or any other infectious disease. Don't waste your time looking for other doctors to treat Lyme.

I have been a patient of Dr. Max DeShaw since 2000. I am a Paramedic and have lived in a number of places. I can truly say that he is the top diagnostician that I have ever come across. The man has literally saved my life more than once. In medicine there is a saying when you hear huff prints think horses not zebras. In addition to the horses he finds the zebras every time. He treated my Mom last year when she was in the hospital for a serious infection. It took a while to find the source and during that time he was always available. He's not only a very talented Doctor, he also has a great sense of humor. And when you're stress out, that certianly helps!

Dr. Deshaw is beyond any Doctor I know. Not only did he diagnose and address my problems. He has made me feel 1000% better. I saw a few other Doctors before Dr. DeShaw and was going round and round with different diagnoses and medications until I couldn't fit another bottle in any of the medicine cabinets in my house. Not only has he affected my well being physically, but he has improved my mental and emotional being as well. He has a sincerity and understanding like no other person I've encountered and is truly a brilliant man and I wish him and his family all of the success in the world.

This doctor was incredible. I suffered from an unknown ailment that proved to be lyme disease. He cured me. I would highly recommend this doctor.
