In 2009, I was sent to Dr. Rowan as he was a provider on my employer's workers' comp. plan. Per MRI ordered by referring family practice provider, I had two herniated lumbar/sacral discs causing 3 areas of nerve impingement (including spinal cord nerve, which would cause my legs to buckle, at times, while I was hobbling around!). I could barely walk, had extreme sciatica and numbness in right leg, woke up with severe muscles spasms for 6 weeks that would leave me screaming in the middle of the night and day with my children and husband very anxious and without any way to help me. The pain was so intense that the injury was causing the muscles around the injury to contract which then radiated out and caused the rest of muscles along entire spine to contract and spasm. He would give me a 5 pill prescription of some very ineffective, weak muscle relaxer not designed for such an extreme injury. He said that that was the only thing he prescribed in his practice and refused to address the pain caused by the injury beyond this ineffective treatment. I never sought pain medication as it does not help me; I asked only for a stronger muscle relaxer that would help my muscles to stop spasming. My treatment was several weeks of physical therapy. A year and a half later, he released me for a return to work, saying I had "a herniated disc" in his report, along with weight limits on what I should lift, push, pull, etc.. My employer did not allow me to return, telling me they could no longer use me if I was unable to lift 70 pounds. Ten years down the road, I am very limited in my physical capabilities for employment. I can do very little of the yardwork I had vigorously pursued in my yard as well as routine maintenance chores around the house. During treatment, he offered no understanding or empathy for the symptoms and continuous extreme pain I experienced for months. Apparently, this was not a "one off", as I read that other patients have reported similar encounters, and even worse!

Dr. Bryan Rowan is a doctor I would NOT recommend to anyone. My son was having extreme pain in his right elbow. After he examined my 16 year old son who is active in high school sports, he stated he had Golfer's Elbow and that he needed to start Physical Therapy. He wrote up orders and we scheduled my son's Physical Therapy sessions which ended up 3 days a week for 6 weeks. Throughout his PT he was not getting better... if anything he was getting worse. He was constantly in pain. I called and got an appointment with another Ortopedic doctor in Jasper, GA for a second opinion. Thi doctor after reviewing the x-rays from Dr. Rowan said he was amazed that Dr. Rowan could not correctly read the x-rays. My son had a Stress Fracture in the growth plate of his right elbow! That he should NEVER have had Physical Therapy... this caused further damage. My son is now in a cast. In 6 weeks if not healed, he will have surgery. May even have permanent damage. THANKS DR ROWAN!!!

He seems really nice & I think the problems are with the other Drs. & staff. Dr. Palmeri who is in the same office is the most arrogant jerk I ever met. Dr. Rowan seemed to be very nice & caring. They forgot to stitch me up after my surgery. A few months later I missed an appt due to pneumonia, I didn't know until the day before, but less than 24 hours that I needed to cancel. I canceled less than 24 hours before, but the day before, I could barely speak & I said that I had pneumonia, so they charge me the full price whatever insane amount it is that they charge for an office visit. I couldn't pay, after talking to dr they decided, they would forgive this debt if I don't make them fix my the scar, which looks awful, but unfortunately, I should've gotten it in writing, because the person that said this to me is gone and they want their money. They made out so much better, as the surgery to fix their mistake would've cost them way more than the debt the said they'd forgive.
