Showed up for my appointment, paid my copay and was told I’m required to wear a mask. I asked for a refund and found a different physician. I refuse to give money to those forcing others to comply with nonsense. It’s 2023 and there are still people like this forcing their agendas when all we want is to have our injuries evaluated. Nonsense.

I CHOSE THIS DOCTOR BECAUSE HE WAS THE ONLY ONE IN MY AREA THAT ADVERTISED DOING ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY AND I LEARNED HE DID IT IN HIS OWN OFFICE AND, AT AGE 66, APPARENTLY HAD A LOT OF EXPERIENCE. A NUMBER OF REVIEWS COMPLAINED ABOUT HIS 'BEDSIDE MANNER' BUT SUCH DOCTORS NEVER BOTHERED ME IF THEY WERE GOOD SURGEONS. HIS ENTIRE STAFF WAS VERY CORDIAL.
IN MY INITIAL THREE MINUTE VISIT, I EXPLAINED WHY I THOUGHT I HAD A TORN MENISCUS I.E., THE PAIN IN MY KNEE TRAVELED FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER. WITHOUT TOUCHING THE KNEE, HIS ONLY COMMENT WAS, "SOUNDS LIKE IT. LETS GET AN MRI," AND LEFT.
TWO WEEKS LATER, AFTER THE MRI, I HAD ANOTHER VERY SHORT PRE-OP VISIT. HE SAID I NEEDED AN OPERATION AND SAID HE WOULD SCHEDULE IT FOR A WEEK FROM MONDAY AND STARTED TO LEAVE. I OFFERED TO SHOW HIM MY PREVIOUS SURGEON’S SUMMARY OF WHAT HE DID ON MY KNEE OPERATION 23 YEARS AGO. HE INDICATED NO INTEREST. I ASKED TO SEE THE TEAR ON THE RECENT MRI. HE SEEMED ANNOYED AND QUICKLY SHOWED ME ONE SECTIONAL AND LEFT.
BECAUSE OF MY BRAIN INJURIES AND THE EFFECTS ANESTHESIA HAS ON BRAIN INJURED PEOPLE, I ASKED TO BE GIVEN A LOCAL AND NOT ANESTHESIA. I EXPLAINED THAT I HAD ONLY A LOCAL PAIN BLOCK IN MY TWO PREVIOUS ARTHROSCOPIC KNEE SURGERIES.  DR BINKLEY HAD ME ANESTHETIZED ANYWAY BECAUSE, AS HE SAID, "THAT'S THE WAY I DO IT." HE TOLD ME, NOT TO WORRY, I WOULD BE OUT FOR ONLY 10-20 MINUTES. I WOKE TWO HOURS AFTER I WAS ANESTHETIZED.
ON THE DAY OF THE OPERATION, I NEVER SAW DR. BINKLEY BEFORE OR AFTER THE OPERATION, AS I WAS PUT TO SLEEP BEFORE HE CAME.
THE ONLY POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN  WAS: NOT TO WALK, NOR TAKE A BATH FOR THE FIRST 72 HOURS, KEEP THE LEG ELEVATED AND ICED FOR SWELLING. WHEN I CALLED FOR A COPY OF THE POST-OP SUMMARY AND FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS, E.G., EXERCISES, THE NURSE SAID THE DOCTOR DOES NOT WANT TO GIVE THOSE UNTIL HE SEES YOU (TEN DAYS AFTER THE OPERATION).
WHEN I SAW HIM 10 DAYS AFTER THE OPERATION, I ASKED FOR A COPY OF HIS SUMMARY OF THE PROCEDURE RESULTS AND OF THE OPERATION VIDEO. HE SAID HE DID NOT MAKE A VIDEO, BUT GAVE ME A COPY OF HIS POST-OP SUMMARY AND STARTED TO LEAVE.
I HAD TO SHOW HIM A PHOTO OF A MENISCUS AND ASKED HIM TO DRAW ON THE PHOTO WHERE HE TOOK OUT THE TORN PIECE. WHEN I ASKED HIM WHY HE DID NOT REPAIR THE OUTER PART OF THE MENISCUS AS SHOWN IN ANOTHER PHOTO, HE SAID HE ONLY DID THAT "FOR 25 YEAR OLDS." WHEN LEAVING, I HEARD HIM DICTATING THAT PATIENT "INDICATED NO PAIN” ALTHOUGH I TOLD HIM I STILL HAD KNEE SWELLING AND MORE PAIN THAN BEFORE THE SURGERY DESPITE NOT WALKING FOR THE FIRST FOUR DAYS AFTER THE PROCEDURE AND NOT LEAVING THE HOUSE FOR THE ENTIRE 10 DAYS.

Do you want a great surgeon or a someone with an amazing bedside manner? Personally, I will take a great surgeon. I will talk to his back as he works on his computer. He hears you. He is an amazing surgeon. Brilliance often makes people less sociable. Go find a friendly, sociable stupid doctor -- I prefer a gruff, brilliant surgeon but that is just me!

Dr. Binkley has replaced three knees and two hips for my husband and me, and we'll go back for more, if the need arises. He runs a good shop. Efficient; listens attentively and sympathetically. We feel we can trust his advice.

Since it was a work comp issue, the doctors involvement was minimal at best. Post surgery, pain never waned, doing physical therapy indicated surgery was either unsuccessf7l, or incompleye, but he refused to even redo an MRI to make sure there were no issues. Restricting all use of my dominant right arm, still releases me to work! Physical issues still exist, and another surgeon will be involved after this mans lack of focus.
