I had a double mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction.2 surgeon 8 plus hour procedure. plastic surgeon performs the reconstruction by tram flap process.breast reconstruction is done harvesting abdominal tissue and muscle, moving it up to hollowed out breast cavity while still connected to the blood supply, thus creating the new breasts. After six weeks,I reported severe pain to Dr. Mathers,he said his patients didn't have pain after six weeks.I learned that my pain was due to scar adhesion, which literally caused my abdominal scar, which runs from hip to hip, to be stuck to my tissue underneath. I learned this was not an unusual complication after TRAM surgery.I feel he should have known this when I reported my pain. Aftersuffering excruciating pain uneccessarily for several months,I finally found relief at Cancer Treatment Center. I was treated with myofacial release massage therapy. They literally "unstick" the scar tissue by massage to the area, relieving my excruciating pain.

Dr Mathers is amazing!! He's performed rhinoplasty and breast lift/augmentation on me and both look phenomenal! I was worried about everything being symmetrical and also about bad scarring, but I am happy to report that both my nose and breasts are straight & symmetrical. My breasts are perkier and more full than they were before I had kids but don't look or feel fake. My nose has no scarring at all. And the scarring on my breasts is minimal, of course there are lines because I had an anchor lift but they are paper thin and straight. He's very professional, honest, experienced and knows what he's talking about! His nurses are also very nice and supportive. My advice... DO go to him! Oh and he has a private surgical center so you don't have to go to the hospital and have every joe bob in town know you are having reconstructive surgery! He doesn't have many pictures of his work online, but you can look at his albums while you're in his office and see that he does great work!
