He has ruined the Quality of my life! It has been since March 19th 2016 since the surgery I had with John Coniglio. He has reduced the quality of my life. Because of his surgery I have pain in my neck, Pain in my throat, ear pain, grit my teeth, numbness in my neck and have difficulty swallowing my food. I will have this for the rest of my life.
I had a lesion on my tongue. The MRI showed that the lesion was cancer and was confine to my tongue.
He removed my lymph nodes from my neck for a precaution. He never discussed the side effects of this to me. Had I known the pain I have been enduring since my surgery I would have never have had this done.
He also removed a gland next to my throat.. Why he removed this was never explained to me. To me he is nothing but a second rate surgeon.
I had never had any pain in my face or never had this problem swallowing my food. When I complained about the pain I was having he stuck a tube down my nose down to my throat and told me there was nothing there. He said it was in my head. He said he has been doing this for a long time and I was imagining the pain. They did nothing to help me. I now am going to have this pain for the rest of my life. John Coniglio has ended the quality of life. I'm constantly going to the pain center at RGH for shots in my mouth to try to limit this pain.
I wish I was dead so this pain would stop. It isn’t worth living. He did this to me. I don’t care how many years he has been doing this, all I know is the pain John Coniglio created,
People are warn. Don’t trust this Doctor. Don't bring your children to him. If he wants to operate on you get away from him. Don’t believe him when he tells you he is the only one who can do this like he told me. It was the biggest mistake of my life. I am now paying for it with pain.
Don't trust him.
The doctors at RGH where just going to remove the lesion on my tongue. He told me that he was the best qualified for cancer. He said the doctors at RGH were not as experience as him. What a mistake I made to listen to him.
He wanted to remove one side of my thyroid. NO WAY!!. He is a mistake. I only wish this John Coniglio can endure the pain I have for the rest of his life.
I can't understand all this positive feedback. I took that in consideration and look what it got me. Pain, and nothing but pain. I should have listened to my primary. I should have gone to the ENT'S at RGH as suggested. I don’t care what his demeanor or his bedside manner is.
Please, if you have had a bad experience, whether it is through surgery or anything else, let people know. Go on Google and tell people what John Coniglio has done to you. Warn people about this second rate surgeon.

9/5/18 Wow I have read some of these reviews and I will say that you are not alone. Dr. Coniglio does have an attitute as an elitist and as though he's the best Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor in the world and he is moody and I do believe got in trouble before with Medical board ro something. I can't stand him or his attitude and I have the most wonderful new Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor. He is kind, patient and very very smart and he also is a graduate of Eastman Music school and is a violinist but he decided to go to Vanderbuilt University and become a very renowned Doctor. I do not need a snotty Italian Doctor like Coniglio. There are just too many excellent professional Doctors out there to put up with him.

I agree that Dr Coniglio whom I had been a patient with for a long time, does not communicate, has an elitist arrogant attitude and judges people and I found a much better Doctor, He is Dr. Frank Salamone, chief of division of Ear, Nose,Throat at Rochester General Hospital and his grades are awesome and 45 reviews from patients all gave him 5 stars. He also has prestigous awards for his work and recognitons for work. The problem with Coniglio is he doesn't communicate with a patient on a personal basis if you miss appointments because you had too. I don't recommend him for lack of empathy to patient and a great lack of communication and he thinks he's the greatest ear, nose and throat Doctor on earth and he is not. He has flaws. I don't recommend him and he never talks while examining you. He's weird.

Dr. Coniglio is impossible to reach by phone. No one in his office ever actually answers the phone. It takes multiple messages followed by hours of waiting to get a return call, sometimes not until a day later. His nurse managed to combine a sarcastic attitude with gratuitous insults that bring dismissive arrogance to new heights.

She constantly interrupted me and was unwilling to answer my questions, instead spending her time telling me about all the other patients she had and bragging about the fact that she had an R.N., and asking my if I had an R.N. or an M.D. and if not I should just shut up after I had the temerity to point out that her knowledge of CAT scan radiation doses seemed incorrect.

This is the most discourteous, unprofessional and downright nasty encounter I've ever had with any medical person. I wouldn't go back to Dr. Coniglio if he was Albert Schweizer and Jesus rolled into one because of the demeaning and disrespectful way I was treated there.

I had my tonsils removed by Dr. Coniglio back in 2009. I had heard horror stories about adult tonsillectomies and was terrified. Dr. Coniglio's office was clean and inviting. I mostly spoke with his PA and only met the doctor briefly before the surgery and once after but he seemed polite and very capable. My mother was worried that it wasn't being performed at a hospital but I'm so glad that I had the operation at his clean surgical center and not a crowded hospital. The procedure went beautifully. Afterwards his staff were incredibly caring and had me stay for an hour to make sure I was okay. They let me watch a movie and gave me popsicles. Recovery over the next month was painful but I was given strong pain meds and my throat healed just fine. I would recommend Dr. Coniglio to anyone who needs a good ENT specialist.
