After decades of working in lumber mills and machine shops and being an advid runner I had severe pain in my hips and legs and thought I needed hip replacement surgery. The hip specialist checked me out and said it wasn't my hips and sent me for an MRI. The diagnosis was severe spinal senosis in my neck and lumbar. I always research doctors thoroughly and only will consider those who have written reviews. Dr. Hott had great reviews so we gave him a call. I was told it would be awhile before I could be seen. They asked if I'd had a recent MRI for the Dr to look at. They called later that afternoon and said the Dr wanted to see me the next day! Dr Hott was friendly, professional and whip smart. He thoroughly explained what was going on, options and patiently answered my questions. Sometimes several times over if I needed. I was in surgery within 2 weeks for my cervical stenosis. The DR met with my wife and I prior to surgery and checked to see if we had any questions. We were very comfortable and confident with him and his skills. Especially when several of the OR nurses said we had one of the best surgeons. The surgery was very successful and I was home the next day. That was last year. I just completed the surgery for the lumbar stenosis 2 weeks ago. Same wonderful experience. I'd also like to mention Kathy, his PA. She was always available to talked to me whenever I called. She is professional, personable and very efficient. I would highly recommend Dr. Hott. Just a note, I've never reviewed anyone before but felt compelled to do so for Dr. Hott and his staff

I can not even begin to tell you what a great surgeon and all around human being Dr. Hott is!!! I would highly recommend him to anyone and everyone including my own family and friends!!! He not only takes the time to explain everything in depth to his patients but also takes the time to follow up in the hospital if not only once then several times. He also ALWAYS ensures that he's available to his patients should they have ANY questions regardless of time or day or if they are a current or past patient of his. I say I would recommend him to my own family not only bc he's a great surgeon but bc he treats each and every patient as if THEY are family!!! He truly is a top notch and extremely respected surgeon but not only that, he's just an all around great human being all together!!!! I HIGHLY recommend him!!!!

I was referred to Dr. Hott from a family friend and I have to say that I am so grateful to have met such an extraordinary doctor. He had done my mom's back surgery and it was a success!! Then he saw me about 10 years ago when I was 20 years old, telling me if I can try so many other things before having a surgery since I was really young. He never pressured and always was transparent on everything that I had concerns of. Finally 10 years later, in March 2021, he did my L5-S1 fusion. I would have had it no other way with certainly no other surgeon touching my back! Before my surgery, I had seen a different doctor highly recommended at Barrows with the whole covid-19 since it was complicated to do elective surgeries so that did a consult, and you know what, I stuck to Dr. Hott because he knew exactly what I have been needing the whole time and never tried to talk me into getting stuff that is not needed to avoid surgery at this time in my life. Dr. Hott made me feel so confident in my choice, knowing that there are many risks with it, that he told me don't overthink and you are in great hands. I call it magical hands today!!! Surgery was my only way to fix my problem and he FIXED IT!!! When I woke up from the surgery, the pain in my foot, was completely gone. I had not realized how big the scars were, but you know what, it is worth having knowing now that I am up and walking and able to stand for more than just 5 minutes without being in pain, is the best thing I could have asked for. I can now keep up with my 3 children and finally wake up with no pain. I cannot thank this doctor enough for giving me my old self back, physically and mentally with a big smile on my face. We are now 4 months later and slowly back at the gym. I am almost 30 years old and so happy to have listened to his advice back then and to listen to it again now. Him and his staff where just phenomenal when it came to any questions I had making sure I was taken care of. I felt like a family member to them and not just a patient. Any one that needs someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to his profession, please reach out to him because he really does outstanding work.

I had been in excruciating pain for like seemed forever. I went to my PCP with my symptoms and I was given a topical along with a referral to a Pain Management Doctor. Well, once at the Pain Management – I had my nerves burned in my back. It was one painful procedure and two surgeries by which I was put under with a very expensive bill that I am still paying on. I was also given some prescriptions by which the one was greatly appreciated for it did indeed alleviate some of the pain.
Then I was referred to the neurosurgeon – Dr. Hott. Dr. Hott spent the time with me going over in great details the MRI indicating to me the reason(s) why I was in so much pain. We had originally scheduled a surgery but I had to cancel due to taking a new job. But the pain continued and as soon as I could reschedule the surgery – I did.
I was so afraid that I would not wake up from the surgery. I was so afraid to go under. But – With the comforting and the great detail that Dr. Hott had given me – I was more comfortable at the date of the surgery.
After the surgery – It was a miracle. When I first seen Dr. Hott at the hospital I had to give him a great big hug. I could not explain in words alone how I had been given my life back again, the life that I once knew. I had been in such agony, pain, and discomfort – That I never even wanted to attend functions for I just was not myself and I was irritable and not good company.
Now I can live again. My sister said to me – “Welcome back Wendy.” Dr. Hott is my GOD. What he has done for me – I will never be able to thank him enough. Let me also state that indeed the issue was not the back. Dr. Hott worked on C3 to C7 removing and replacing 4 discs with a long plate holding all in place on the anterior side (front of neck) with 8 screws accessing all through an incision in my neck. For me that sounds awful but believe me – It is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
I highly recommend anyone and all who are having issues that may need to see a Dr. for Neurological Surgery – Dr. Hott is the one to go to. His office staff is also wonderful. They go out of their way to demonstrate interest in one’s experience, making one feel comfortable, and most of all – The wait time to see Dr. Hott has always been minimal.

I visited Dr. Hott due to a cervical spinal issue that radiated pain and numbness down my right arm into my hand. Dr. Hott was quickly able to identify the issue and set a surgery date. The surgery went better than I expected or hoped! By the time I woke up, the pain was gone. It has been 3 months and I have healed almost 100%. Thank you, Dr. Hott!

Jonathan S. Dr Hott Neurological Surgeon. I rank him the best in his field. I'm glad I did my research to find the best. He goes above and beyond to care for your needs and informing you of the procedure. His staff is fantastic .
Dr Hott did a Microdiscectomy and Laminectomy of my L3/L4. I was up and walking the same day. Also, able to go home the next day. After 2 week all nerve pain was gone. It's now been three months and I feel fantastic. I'm working again. Walking, bending, lifting and twisting.
Some history before Dr Hott did my surgery: I lived a year with extreme nerve pain, unable to walk more than 50 feet, spent a year laying in a recliner, unable to do anything. I tried every non surgical procedure, from a chiropractor to a spine specialist. I had 3 Lumbar Facet Injections, 4 Nerve Blocks and 4 Neurolysis Facet Nerve Destructions, which all failed/ did nothing . I can't thank Dr Hott enough for giving me a normal life again. I highly recommend to anyone in need of surgery get a consult with Dr Hott first.

In 2011, I had two cervical levels fused by another doctor. In late 2019, some of the symptoms returned, but on the other side. I work with lots of folks who have been in accidents requiring neurosurgery and those folks always spoke so highly of Dr. Hott. I knew Dr. Hott's reputation was conservative; surgery was a last resort. Unfortunately, as feared, an adjacent level herniated and was pushing on my spinal cord and impinging nerves. There were no non-surgical options available, so I underwent a second 2 level fusion. I cannot believe the difference in the surgeries. The second surgery is supposed to be harder, riskier and more difficult to recover from. I never took more than Tylenol for the pain and was discharged the next day. I am 16 days out, driving and have only taken Tylenol once or twice per day since the surgery. He is kind, warm, and explained every single step to me. His office did all the work of getting approvals, scheduling appointments and following up!
