Not very talkative, but he'll answer your questions and he knows what he's talking about. He gives you answers straight and to the point.

I had the surgery performed in Dec and have had a TERRIFIC results. Dr. Weingart was provided excellent service and I was extremely confident in his hands. The most important part of this surgery is REST! Do nothing for the first 6 weeks to make sure the bone and muscles have healed properly, even if you feel ok.... I was nervous to have such a complicated surgery performed, but it was worth it.

This doctor is a skilled neurosurgeon - and that's the most important requirement. His bedside manner is patient and compassionate, but not chatty. He was available via email/phone whenever needed and took time to personally answer questions and offer assurances. One month post op-100% improvement of ACM1 symptoms! Very positive experience with both Dr. Weingart and Johns Hopkins Hospital.

I highly DO NOT recommend this doctor. I was diagnosed with CM1 and was referred to him. AFTER the surgery when my symptoms GOT WORSE, he told me "give it 3 more months & see him again" which has turned into a year. He continued to say everything looks great when other drs seem to disagree w/ him & on my final visit w/ him today he told me "he did all he can and would be glad to refer me elsewhere". It seems when the surgery didn't have the "success" he promised me, all he could do was make excuses and make me feel as all of this is in my head. I am glad to know now w/ other posts, it is not just me. He has horrible bedside manners and if the results aren't perfect, he doesn't want anything else to do with you. It got so ridiculous at one point he referred me to a pain management dr instead of addressing the issue and a possible second surgery. He told me on the eval "he never had to do a second surgery" and after this disaster, now I know why.

Not knowledgeable. Blows you off. He is horrible. Not recommended at all. Says you have something and then he changes your mind. Has been in the field to long. Doesn't know what works and what doesn't. Doesn't spend time with his patients. Horrible beside manners.

I also have ACM I, and feel this Dr is not current in his knowledge in this field. He also removed too much bone, and I am now dealing with cerebral slumping. At first I found him very helpful and knowledgeable, but when I got a 2nd opinion from TCI he disagreed with everything they said, and those are the drs who have the most up-to-date information in this field. I would strongly caution anyone considering this doctor to get a second opinion, as you should before making any serious medical decision.

Horrible doctor. I have Chiari Malformation 1 and I was referred to him and I found him to be horrible. According to him I did not have Chiari 1 and yet I got a second opinion and I did have it. If he doesn't believe that you have something by his standards he is going to blow you off. He had no suggestions as to what I should do for the pain. I ended up having surgery a month later because I got so bad. Please be careful if you are considering him. He may be a good NSG but not in the area of Chairi.

I had decompression surgery and what not in the summer of 1999 for Chiari 1 Malformation. When the ER sent me home with pain meds for neck spasms after reviewing X-rays. Not long after, I saw Dr. Weingart at JH, where he diagnosed me, and even sooner had successful surgery that has corrected/treated my condition thus far.

I could not have had a better experience with this gentleman. He was a second opinion for a brain growth and let me say that he is a very understanding and patient man. He communicates very well and makes you feel as if the situation is always under control. My first opinion/first diagnosis was unreasonable and incorrect. Dr. Weingart took an approach of clarity instead of the simple cut and run approach used by a few surgeons. Thank you so much Dr. Weingart...ANGEL!
