To the person below who said that the people who rated dr. Weingard badly didn't have life threatening conditions, that is very offensive. Dr. Weingard also saved my life after needing an emergency shunt revision and decompression. I will always be thankful for him saving my life but that doesn't take away from the fact that he had a horrible bedside manner. He doesn't like to answer questions or spend much time with the patients after they have surgery. So for those reasons I think that Dr. weingard is not a great doctor for someone who wants to be informed about what is going on with their children.

Dr. Weingart saved my life by removing an inoperable brain tumor. He is a no-nonsense kind of doctor and treats the most serious conditions. After reading the reviews that we're not positive, it is clear they went in there with a non-life threatening condition and it's very unfortunate that they would rate him poorly because he told them the truth. Dr. Weingart removed a tumor from the center of my brain that two other major hospitals said could not be done. I am fortunate to not only be alive, but to have 95% of my vision as well. Coincidentally he saved my best friends nephew after he was ejected from a vehicle at 4 months old due to a drunk driver hitting their vehicle. He had nearly 1/4 of his brain removed and is a normal functioning teenager after Dr. Weingart and Dr. Ben Carson treated him. I personally know several others he saved as well. This doctor is a gift from God and is your best hope if you have a brain tumor. I am so thankfully everyday that he saved my life, and I will never forget it. He deserves more stars but it only goes so high!

Excellent physician who did brain surgery on me for a vestibular schwannoma tumor. Good communication with me and my family - in-person, by phone & emails. He also just recently performed spine disc surgery on my brother-in-law with great results. Again great communications. I highly recommend Dr. Weingart.

I have been reading the comments and I to be honest I am not sure if we are taking about the same person. My husband and I just came back home from his craniotomy that took place last Friday, and which turned out to be a complete success. Two nights later we are safely and happily at home. Dr. Weingart was AWESOME. He met with us a week before the procedure and talked with us for a very long time (same right before the surgery). No sense of rushing whatsoever. He answered all our questions and was very comforting. He is knowledgeable, kind, and very accommodating (e.g. not only he personally escorted me all over the hospital, but also since I could not stay with my husband at the NCCU overnight, he sent me an email at 6am to keep me updated. Naturally, I appreciated both very much.) I found him very modest, gentle and refreshingly down to earth, as neurosurgeons go. Strongly recommended.

I went with an MRI in hand hoping he could give me some answers. I've suffered from chronic fatigue, neurally mediated hypotension, light-headedness and strabismus in both eyes - he barely spent 5 minutes with me! It was insulting - he had just been on a tv program talking about these symptoms having something to do with a Chiari Malformation. Even if I didn't have this he should have looked at my MRI results- he barely glanced at them! I just found him to be very cold and arrogant not unlike many Hopkins Docs whose heads are overblown. I've gotten some answers but I wont go back to this group.

Dr. Weingart was the worst thing to ever happen too me. During my initial consultation for a Craniopharyngioma he made it seem as it was not a difficult surgery at all. Even telling me I would be home in 5-7 days. Well it was 33 days later that I left Hopkins in a wheelchair, after I walked in. It took me six months to walk, talk, and swallow again. He told my family and I that he removed all the tumor, and I would be brain tumor free. When I asked for a perscription for a follow up MRI, he told me I did not need one. I went to another Dr. and got one. I had the MRI 2 weeks after being discharged from hell, and the tumor was still their but my pituitary gland was not. He removed that but not the tumor. He told me it must have grown back, and that we could just do radiation, which I knew does not work on this tumor because it is cystic. He had me already scheduled for radiation before I spoke too him. Please get as many opinions as you can, even if you have to fly there.

What an excellent doc - he did my pituitary surgery and made me feel like I wasn't nuts. When I saw him at the brain tumor walk he was just so sweet to a former patient.

This Dr. has a great reputation! Anyone unhappy with this man probably drives a VOLVO and probably mentally challenged to begin with! My personal opinion.

I have a brain tumor, glioma, deep in my brain in the insular region and was told multiple times by various docs it was inoperable and diffuse. I went to Dr. W in early 2003 or so; and he came off as a neuro-god to me. Said many times he would just monitor my tumor & did so for 5 yrs. Then in Nov 07, he had me get another MRI & told me it'd grown by 1/3rd in size, which was large; so he insisted I had to get a biopsy. I was terrified and agreed to a needle biopsy; which he described to me 'you'll go in on Friday and be home on MOnday" - but something he did went very wrong & my brain began o massively hemmorage& I coded '[died] twice. He was noncommunicative with my husband and family; then I got sent to the NCCU for 2 weeks where I got bad y care but eventually their efforts to keep me alive & conscious worked. I'm disabled now with a major brain injury & must be cared for by my husband 24/7 or else I'd likely do something silly and end up dead . I have Central Pain Syndrome

I had Decompression Surgery In June of 03. I had had the same surgery at Thomas Jefferson in September of 02 and was a mess. My bovine patch was leaking cerebral spinal fluid and I haad terrible headaches and intractable nausea and vomiting. Dr Weingart saved me. He redid my surgery when the doctor at Thomas Jefferson wouldn't see me. I have been symptom free ever since. I found him very easy to deal with and very knowledgable.
