Less than 2 weeks ago this Dr. operated on my brother's back. He sent him home with no antibiotics. My brother developed an infection in his spine that traveled to his brain. He is now in Toronto Western Hospital with a drainage tube in his brain to drain fluid and on life support in a coma. They are taking him back into Surgery this morning for what they think will be several hours to try to clean out the infection in his spine. DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK!!

This doctor was short with me, and rude, was not helpful, did not listen to my problems. Thinks he’s better then u. I would not recommend him at all, he should lose his licence.

Dr Soon Shiong is a n extremely competitent surgeon
I have received a wonderful experience having gone
through an elaborate spinal fusion.He is so wonderful
to talk to and his medical expertise is flawless!

Several problems with his consultation:
-Too short of a visit and he barely speaks.
-I mentioned needing a pain medication a few times a week, he labels me an addict without asking me the dose or frequency. (For your consideration: twice or three times a week with the same dose over years)
-Automatically prescribes NSAIDS without asking for family history. NO i can't take these after a stomach surgery and kidney problems in my family. But it takes too much of his time to ask.
PLEASE NOBODY TAKE NSAIDs FOR LONGER THAN A FEW MONTHS!
-READ MRI pictures in less than 30 seconds (There were more than 50 pictures. He barely pays attention to detail it seems.
-Gave a silly physio therapy after a decade of pain. Does he really think i didn't try that ?
-Didn't give any other options.
- Referred me to a pain management doctor who is even less pleasant. Epidural did not last a week. My previous doctor from another country already told me that it wouldn't work. I wasted a lot of time believing him.
-Probably judged me for obesity despite that L1-L2 location at a very young age is not relevant. Its almost in the middle of my back from a sport injury.

In conclusion nearly 0 attention to detail, dismissive and unpleasant.
Probably isn't too knowledgeable in diagnosis.

He seems to do good fusion surgeries from other reviews BUT ONLY THAT ONE. It wasn't the surgery that suits my disk so i believe thats why he didn't help at all.
So he fails also ethically

steer clear-ask for someone else-saw him in fracture clinic- order s 3 xray views-you're lucky if he looks at one- saw him for fractured foot-sent me for bone density screening-when I saw him for next visit, I asked the results and he refused to tell me----it is an assembly line

Had back fusion in Oct of 19’ since then ..the pain that I deal with is now worse than before the surgery the leg pain hasn’t left ...After the surgery and 4 months of unbelievable pain I was asked if I had gout. I’m now in worse pain than before the surgery and don’t know how I’m going live with this pain everyday. He didn’t help at all .

Feb. 4th--Had surgery for decompression, fusion, etc. etc. on my back. Dr. Soon-Shiong is very knowledgeable and very experienced--he knows what he's doing! After surgery he showed us the xray and explained all the steps he took to complete the 4hr surgery. He is an amazing doctor! And Rose, his secretary is amazing too! God Bless them!! EB
